| Personal History | XXCLASSIFIEDXX Harlequin (Harley) was born on Vendor (2356), but he did not grow up there. Six adult Vendorians took Harley and a large number of other Vendorian youths and relocated to Remus in the Romulan Star Empire. They were there to study the Romulans and their society, but they quickly became immersed. So immersed, that by the time Harley was 20 years old he could no longer recognize his own people from the Romulans around them.XX XXCLASSIFIEDXX He was raised and educated in the Romulan Star Empire. In school, Harley had a quick mind and was curious about everything. His passion was space. The Romulans deemed him mentally fit and allowed his studies in astrometrics, biosciences, propulsion and navigation. During his studies in bioscience he met a human from Starfleet named Wade Spencer. They became fast friends. They became so close that Wade even allowed Harley (who was mimicking a Romulan) to mimic himself. By doing this Harley was also learning about what it meant to be a human.XX In 2387 the Romulans’ star system was destroyed when their sun went supernova. They had enough time to relocate many of the people, but not all of them. Harley was relocated to Earth, but his friend and partner of five years, Wade Spencer, was killed. Harley mourned his loss, keenly and unusual for his species. He was lost for several years and then remembered how fond Wade had been of Starfleet. XXCLASSIFIEDXX Harley was honest with Starfleet. He told them he was Vendorian, who he mimicked and why. Starfleet allowed him to join OTC/Officer Training School. He took basic training for 10 weeks for his commission. He also agreed that while he was in Starfleet he would not take any other guises with the intent to change his identity. Harley agreed. Starfleet also thought it best if most did not know what Harley was, lest someone try to use him for nefarious means. XX |
