Arcadia

USS Standing Bear writers,

As you all (hopefully) are aware, I have disclosed plans to close the Standing Bear in 2024. Yes, this is still the plan and my time table is to do so around March of 2024. I do have plans in place to continue writing on the Standing Bear to wrap up loose ends and bring things to a conclusion. It has been an absolute honor and delight to write with everyone here past and present. We have had some great years of writing together and over 1,000 mission posts!

There was initial discussion among several of us as to what the future would hold. I know several of us, myself included, want to keep us together by writing. I've weighed options and there's a lot of exciting options out there, but ultimately we all have familiarity with Star Trek and it seems like Star Trek is the best route to take.

USS Arcadia

That brings me to announce the USS Arcadia, the next chapter in our journey. Before starting the USS Standing Bear as a sim, I had the USS Musashi, a TOS era sim that I had for a few years which Kat and Kim had been a part of. Unfortunately, I did not have the quality of writers on it long-term that I had on the Standing Bear, and thus things fizzled out. I have a love for classic Trek and that era, and though I was note a fan of Star Trek: Discovery, I am enjoying Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

The USS Arcadia will be constructed around Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and will be a Constitution class starship and will be set during the show's run (which hopefully will be a nice long run, but even if it gets cancelled we can continue onward). I don't EXPECT everyone to be interested, but I would be happy if you wanted to consider it.

I have been working on the website for the Arcadia for a few months when I can so that we have something ready to go. I will be taking on the Captain's Chair but at the moment everything else is up for grabs. I know Kat has a few ideas of what they may go with. Please feel free to message me if you are interested and give a character a thought. I'm still working on my own character stuff but we have time.
