Mission: Operation: Overdrive
Location: USS Fontana| Sickbay
Timeline: 2393 (Shortly post Launch)

{ON:}

Yolen walked into sickbay. He'd been in his quarters for days now recovering from Rigelian Fever. The doctor told him already that pending he is better he would be allowed back on light duty. Sighing he walked into sickbay feeling still weak but much better. The nurse greeted him and he said, "I have an appointment with Doctor Rose."

The nurse nodded. "He's right over there." She pointed to Ryan, who was cross legged on a bio bed, with the scanner pulled in front of him. Ryan looked over, not quite sure if he'd heard his name or not. "Lieutenant. Nice to see you, please come on over. I've almost got this set up for you, it'll just be a minute." Ryan stood from the bio bed and swung the scanner with him.

"Excellent. My apologies for running late. My sleep cycle was a bit longer then the usual six days. I feel very much better. I think that the Rigilian Fever is gone for the most part. I place myself in your excellent hands." Yolen walked over to the bio bed and sat waiting for the CMO to calibrate the scanners. "How are you this fine day sir?"

"Well, thank you." Ryan answered politely. "Alright, done here." He tapped a couple more buttons then turned his attention to Yolen. "I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. Rigilian Fever is no fun."

"For a Denobulan more so. Our people have heightened immune systems but this one bug...it's not fun." He smiled widely at the doctor. Laying back he allowed the doctor to scan him. "I cannot wait to get back to duty. I felt the flying during the launch. It was....not fun."

"Oh, I bet." Ryan sympathized. He started his scans. "Well, good news. The fever did not damage your reproductive organs."

Yolen snorted. "Small miracles. I'm an oddity amongst my people, on that account, hence my banishment."

"How so?" Ryan asked. The doctor in him wanting more details, even as he regretted having to poke into the man's private life.

"I made the choice not to have children. I undertook a procedure to ensure it, in fact. I did not want to marry as of yet nor was I sure I ever wanted to."

"Well nothing wrong with that." Ryan commented. He understood not wanting children. Your scans look a lot better, but I'm going to keep you on light duty for another week, then we can see how you are doing, and I think you'll be ready to go back full time."

"Wonderful!" He looked at the doctor. "I must say that this is a very organized sickbay." He sat up. "I do have some basic medical training doctor. If ever you need an extra pair of hands please do not hesitate to call on me."

"I'll keep that in mind. With such a small ship, that may very well come in handy. The organization is all due to the nurses." Ryan smiled.

"Doctor my I speak with you about something personal?" He'd learned to ask. He'd learned the hard way that not everyone was open to personal suggestions or topics.

"Of course." Ryan immediately agreed. "Did you want to go to my office?" Ryan then offered, in case the man wanted privacy.

"Yes please." Yolen followed the doctor to his office.

Ryan walked in and headed straight for the replicator. "Can I get you anything? Feel free to sit wherever you're comfortable."

He sat in the chair. "No, thank you sir." He studied the doctor. "I am sorry we Denobulans are open just about everything but I am... almost hesitant at this moment."

Ryan took the couch, so there was only a small coffee table separating them instead of a huge desk. "I assure you doctor patient confidentiality is in affect." Ryan offered, hoping to ease the man's concern.

He sighed, "I have developed an allergy. As you know Denobulan males are rather...shy when it comes to disrobing but it has been on my back for perhaps a month. I know not to what." He took his shirt turning slowly to show the doctor his lavender spots.

Ryan made a face. "This didn't show up on the scanner, that's odd." He grabbed his medical tricorder and ran another scan. "Hmmm. mind if I get a skin sample?" Ryan asked.

"Not at all." He was still nervous. "It has...come and gone actually over the last few years...usually appears after my sleep cycle."

Ryan got a skin sample, then sealed it for analysis. "Well I'll take a look. How long has it lasted in the past? Did it ever spread or anything like that?"

"It lasts three to four days, last day it's itchy and then goes away." He finished buttoning his shirt. "It won't show up again when it goes away until the following year. No spreading at all."

"Looks like we have a bit of a medical mystery on our hands. I'll do some research." Ryan replied. "If it does start to spread or becomes painful let me know."

He gave a nod. "Thank you doctor." He studied the man. "You should let me repay you for your kindness." He thought. "Do you like cookies?"

"I do, a good old fashioned chocolate chip cookie can't be beat. But I'm just doing my job, no repayment needed."

"I shall then ply you with cookies," he said smiling. He sighed. "Well I should go for now. I have a few appointments today and a light shift in the shuttle bay." He bowed, "Thank you doctor."

"You're very welcome."
