Maximus lay back in his new room. He had yet to fully unpack. He steepled his fingers behind his head and looked up at the ceiling. "Computer, Begin Personal log. Today's stardate."

There was a chirp.

"Personal Log....stardate...I just don't know anymore."

There was a long pause. "I have yet to unpack...not that there is a lot. I ended up getting some stuff on the station and a few things i always carry. I am sure I will be able to fit it all in here. It's only two bags."

He smiled a little, "My roommate is exhausting. She talks a mile a minute not that I mind it's just I have not had time to collect my thoughts since I got here."

He sighed. "Soral was the biggest surprise. To find him married and ...well married is enough. He swore after Evasta that he'd never marry with good reason." His thoughts turned to all those years ago but only briefly. He'd been mad at the Romulan woman for misleading his friend. He'd hoped to tell Soral the truth of the matter or at least his suspicions but fining him drunk after another woman had toyed with his heart.... that had hurt him. Soral was like a brother to him. He'd met Alex at dinner and he thought of her. She seemed different. She seemed nice.

"I have been to the security department and things are going well there. Without a chief though we are going to take turns running point on shifts with weekly change overs. This way we all get the experience I guess. If I were chief there would be many things to change. I will get it all in a report."

He paused. "I had an argument with my father again. Mother...did not make it through surgery but at least I got to say goodbye. If he hadn't wanted to finish that one negotiation she would have been here in time. I find that I cannot or perhaps I am not willing to forgive him. Julia...she was all that was good in my life. She was the mother I had always wanted and she saved my life all those years ago when they took me off Capella. She defied Starfleet so I could live and frankly she has always been a constant in my life. How do I live without that? Why had I stayed away a year. One whole year wasted."

He scrubbed his hands over his face and then crushed them to the side. "I feel...for the first time in my life confused. Alone." Then a thought came to him.

"Computer end log and file."

He sat up. "Computer locate Commander Soral."

There was a mechanical, cold female voice. "Commander Soral is in his office."

Hoping off the bed he headed out in search of his old friend. They had much to talk about. He needed a friend now.
