"Personal log,
It's been....a difficult time. Perhaps an understatement if there ever was one. I still have so much anger and resentment towards the crew that stranded Kaito here. He'd risked his life to save those people and the crew and they just dropped him off here and left with an offer to come back if he recovered."
He had to pause and close his eyes to allow his heart to stop pounding and the bitter vile anger to work its way through his system.
"They took his stuff off the ship just in case he didn't recover. ** Sigh ** I just don't know how to control the anger that I feel. I know if he could talk he'd tell me to let it go but I can't. Seeing Stillwater and Talarn in Sickbay was an image all too familiar and I understand the need for vengeance that Talarn is feeling. Hell, I'm tempted to help him."
He rubbed the back of his neck as he stood and began to pace. "Our stuff was moved into our new quarters. Kaito will work with the doctors while I go on this away mission and I feel like a monster leaving him to the devices of the Vulcans while I'm off working."
The pause was long as he collected his thoughts. "He would say that it's important to work, to do your duty but, not for the first time, I want to leave Starfleet. The only thing holding me back is my dedication to and respect for Stillwater and Talarn." He licked his dry lips and then walked to the replicator ordering a cup of water and watching it shimmer into existence. He picked it up and let the cool liquid wet his parched throat.
"And then there is Kaito. He's so dedicated to Starfleet. He's determined to make Starfleet what it once was and I...for once....don't know if he can." He walked over to the table and sat down. "Well, last night in these quarters and off I go on my adventure. I hope that when we get back I can stay on the station to be closer to Kaito." He looked at the time noticing that since he'd started his log it had seemed to fly by.
"Computer. End log and save."
He waited until he heard the confirmation chirp and then he stood heading back to the station. He needed to see him one more time...just in case this turned out to be not so routine.
