Ryan sighed. Trying to get the paperwork in order for his report on the Vashti mission was quite the undertaking. After having a very uncomfortable chat with Sam, they decided it would be best if she no longer served as his yeoman at all. Which left him struggling to put the details into a report that would make some kind of sense to Starfleet. His desk was a mess, littered with PaDDs, an almost empty glass of water, and an empty mug of coffee. He noted the time, and realized he was late to the meeting he had with Soral to go over the Vashti mission.

Soral normally a stickler for punctuality had not noticed of the doctor's lateness. He'd arrived in sickbay early and had found a place to sit and review the notes of the mission and had, for the first time, lost track of time.

Ryan quickly stood up and headed out of his office. He was surprised to see Soral waiting out in the main bay. "Sir. I apologize. I had no idea you were waiting out here for me. Please, come in."

Soral looked up momentarily off guard. "Is it time already?" He stood. "I was reading. No apology necessary." He stood and followed the doctor into the office. "I must congratulate you."

Ryan was relieved that Soral wasn't upset. He led the man to his office then asked. "On what sir? and would you like anything the drink?"

"Just water is fine. On a well done in terms of the mission. You did an admirable job and you helped bridge that bit of trust."

"Oh. Thank you sir." Ryan grabbed two glasses of water, and offered one to Soral. He then quickly put the old glass and mug from his desk onto the replicator to be recycled. "I'm glad we were able to help. I just wish we'd been able to do more."

"It is a small start. The Federation has to take steps as well." He looked at Rose. "I was not with you the whole time was there much resistance?"

"No, Lu'Sura was a big help, especially with the children, and of course the nuns did most of the work."

"Yes. I am glad the Ensign was of help and I am glad you were able to keep her in order." He said. "What are your assessments of any further help that they may need of supplies."

"Well ideally a full medical frigate with an industrial medical replicator to leave them with. A small team of interns to render medical care, and train the natives to care for themselves." Ryan was more or less speaking his thoughts out loud as they came to him.

"Alright. Can you prepare a list for me?"

"Of course." Ryan replied. "I'll get one put together for you as soon as possible." He paused. "Sir, is everything alright? No telepathic issues?" He asked, getting a sense that something was off with the XO.

"I have had no further issues. No more headaches or nose bleeding. I do believe there have been perhaps some negative effects to the device that was used."

"Oh?" Ryan asked, clearly prompting for an elaboration.

"I have had issues maintaining emotional control. I have had to meditate more. It is slowly improving but the trip to Vashti....seems to have caused the improvement to evaporate."

"Well that's understandable." Ryan was quick to assure. He knew better than to try and convince the Vulcan that his emotions were valid, and shouldn't be so harshly controlled. He might personally believe that, but he wouldn't disregard the man's heritage and culture. "Have you seen the counselor about the issue? She may have some resources that could help."

He allowed his mouth to turn up slightly. "I am assisting the counselor in meditations to control her emotions."

Ryan let out a soft chuckle. "Well, perhaps you just need to be patient with yourself. Finding focus and control after life altering events takes time. Sometimes a lot of time."

"Indeed." He paused. "Also thank you for your work on the Comedy night event."

Ryan let out a sigh. "I'm afraid it didn't turn out quite as well as I hoped. I apologize that things got a little out of control."

"That was not your fault. It was well put together. You cannot control all the elements. Your hard work is appreciated." He said honestly.

"Thank you. I do think more events would be beneficial, but maybe in a ...." Ryan paused trying to find the correct phrasing. "Less structured manner."

"Perhaps. Your work has netted some positive benefits as well. We have had interest in people joining your committee."

Ryan nodded. "Glover asked if she could help, but she's the only one that has come to me anyway."

"I will have a list for you on those that have spoken with me or their department heads." He studied the doctor. "You should take some time to rest. Once your report is submitted fully take a day for yourself. I am ordering it for all away team members." Except himself. He had work to do.

Ryan looked ready to protest. He had a mountain of paperwork, and no help doing it. If he took a day off it would only get worse. But he nodded. If he took paperwork home, nobody had to be the wiser. "Yes sir."

Soral raised an eyebrow. "I can smell you mind working doctor. In addition to the order rest I order you to touch nothing work related unless a medical emergency is called."

At that, Ryan did have to protest. "Sir, there's quite a bit of paperwork that is only going to get worse. I'm working without a yeoman." He admitted the last part. "For the smooth running of sickbay, can I at least take some of it home?"

He sighed. "I would rather you not but if you must a minimum only."

Ryan sighed a completely different type of sigh, one of relief. "Thank you sir, I'll keep it to the minimum." He promised.
