Soral had been asked to report for a post leave physical. It was not unusual and he was sure that Doctor Rose was being cautious considering his cardiac episode. He strolled into sickbay ready for the tests.

Ryan nodded as he spotted Soral. "Hello sir, thank you for coming in in a timely manner."

"Indeed," he said not aware that Alex had spoken to the Doctor. "I can assure you that I am fine and recovered, however I shall defer to your judgement."

"I did read Dr Hayes report, but let me just do a quick physical. You have had more than one heart related event recently. I just want to be on the safe side." Ryan replied.

"Indeed. Your thoroughness is admirable doctor." He hopped up on the bio bed and lay back letting the doctor do his own magic.

Ryan got started on his scans. "Congratulations on your marriage. I know the honeymoon was all the wrong kinds of excitement, but still. Congratulations."

A puzzling comment about the honeymoon but he ignored it. "Thank you. I should thank you as well. Mackenzie passed on your gift. I must admit to being quite fond of plants. Alexandra is planning a dinner for the crew so that we may celebrate with our family here. When all is set we would be honoured for you to attend."

"Of course. That sounds like a wonderful idea. If you two would like help arranging the dinner, just let me know, I'd be happy to help."

"Indeed." He waited a while. "How are the tests going?"

Ryan respected a 'hurry this up' when he heard one. Especially from one as work driven as Soral. "Almost done sir. Thank you for your patience."

"Have there been any anomalies thus far?" Soral knew his own limit. "There is also one specific ... test I wish you to run."

"None yet." Ryan paused at the XO's request. "What test would you like me to run?"

"Would you be able to run a cognitive scan and compare it to one taken at my last physical?"

"Of course. We still have the data from your cortical monitor for comparison as well. If you like, we can put one back on you for a day or so and get a new set of readings as well." He started the scans. "Have you noticed anything specific?"

He clamped down on his jaw. "The cortical monitor will not be necessary."

"Ok." Ryan capitulated easily. He had no medical reason to insist.. "Have you noticed anything specific?" He asked again, since he'd yet to get an answer.

Soral shook his head. "Some fogginess." He left out the other parts but it was enough to go on for now. He'd let the good doctor finish his exam and then they would talk in more detail. "I just want to ensure that I am fit for duty."

Ryan got a little frown, 'fogginess' was never a good thing. But hell he'd had those mornings where it felt like only coffee would lift the fog, and he didn't even really like coffee. "Alright." He replied, then began the cognitive scan. It was rather more in depth and took longer than a standard scan. Ryan finally pulled the tricorder away. "Well, there are a few abnormalities. They might be explained by the broken bond and just overall stress. I'll have to study them further." He looked straight at Soral. "It's not enough for me to pull you off duty, but sir. I really recommend at least light duty. You need to give yourself time to heal."

Soral said nothing for a moment. "Thank you doctor. Your assistance is appreciated."

Ryan just nodded. Soral was one of the must frustrating patients, but he had to let the man manage his own affairs unless he showed himself unable to do so.
"Anytime sir."

Soral left the medical bay. There was much to do today. Keeping busy seemed to help a little. It provided an escape for him from feeling like a failure.
