Drastic changes

T’Lanna arrived at Sickbay ready to undergo her operation to have her extra implants removed. She wasn’t feeling 100% She was more tired than usual but she’d put that down to nerves and recent events. Walking in she saw that Emerick was already online no doubt to deal with any patients or emergencies whilst Ryan was busy with her. “Good morning Emerick.”

"Good morning, Lieutenant," replied Emerick. His programming was becoming more acquainted with the crew and his expressive subroutines were developing, adding more pleasantness to his bedside manner and general interaction with crew.

Walking over to Ryan and Eyelaya she offered a tired smile. “Good morning, are we ready for this?”

Ryan was already in scrubs, but was checking on some patients before they headed over to the OR. "Good. morning." He smiled.

T’Lanna stifled a yawn. “You may not even need to bother knocking me out, I’ll be asleep the minute I lie down!” She grinned. “I’ve heard pregnancy makes you feel tired but I’m dead on my feet this morning!”

"Well, then you can think of this as a well deserved nap." Ryan teased, hoping to keep the mood light. He didn't anticipate any problems, but then dealing with Borg technology was always tricky. He turned to Eyelaya to see if she was ready.

Eyelaya began gathering her tools and calibrating them. This was tricky work on one but there was a child to think of. She had to carefully remove the extra nano created technology.

Whilst Eyelaya was getting ready T’Lanna took off her jacket leaving just a short sleeved top underneath. That done she lay down on the biobed ready for her procedure. Her bump was starting show now and it made her smile as she looked at it.

Ryan made sure the bio bed was correctly set up, but for this Eyelaya would be in charge. He swapped things around real fast, realizing he'd set it up for left handed from muscle memory. "See you in a bit." He smiled at T'Lanna, then looked over to Eyelaya.

Eyelaya smiled. "Alright." She held up a hypo and looked at T'Lanna. "Ready?"

T’Lanna nodded. “As ready as I’ll ever be. Let’s do this.”

She pressed the hypo to her neck and allowed it to hiss out its dose. "Take some deep breaths," she said as she brought up the tricorder.

T’Lanna did as instructed, the sensation was a strange one. Her arms and everywhere else with new implants started to prickle almost like a sensation of pins and needles. It wasn’t painful but it wasn’t comfortable either. “Is it ... working?” She looked at Eyelaya.

"It is. They are slowly separating so that you don't go into shock. They will begin to tingle and when you feel they get cold they will begin to fall." She looked at the doctor. "You will need to do skin repair as they fall."

"You wanted blue skin right?" Ryan teased. He was ready with small skin grafts though, that actually matched T'Lanna's skin tone.

T’Lanna offered a smile. “I always wondered how I’d look in Andorian blue.” She was flexing her hands clenching and unclenching them. “My arms are definitely tingling! All the new implant sites are.”

"Blue skin would look flattering on you," said Emerick walking by with a PaDD in hand. He was reviewing some laboratory reports that needed to be looked at, helping to cut down on Doctor Rose's work while he was otherwise occupied. Surgical matters and treatment of the crew took priority over paperwork.

“Thank you Emerick” T’Lanna offered a smile fidgeting slightly as she did so. The biobed was feeling oddly uncomfortable to her back, normally it was comfortable enough to lie on. She made herself more comfortable then lay still again.

"They should begin to fall off soon. You'll need your skin repaired there by the medical staff."

T’Lanna nodded. “Ryan ... I don’t know if it’s just me but I’m feeling very uncomfortable on this biobed. I ache all over!”

Eyelaya looked at Vali in sympathy, "I know but it will pass soon. Just a little while."

“No it’s ... more than that!” She looked at Ryan. “I think there’s something wrong!”

T'Lanna wasn't prone to fits of unnecessary dramatics, so Ryan took her complaint seriously. A thorough scan showed the issue. There was a massive spike in HCG and steroids. In a quick decision, he put T'Lanna under. "Eyelaya, which implant do you think would produce excess hormones?"

She raised an eyebrow. "I don't think any of them."

Well their captors had clearly done something that was causing rapid growth in the fetus. It took some doing to get things under control, and luckily Ryan was able to stop the abnormal growth before he ended up delivering a baby.

"Can you check the implants?" Ryan asked Eyelaya. "I'm just going to grab a quick glass of water."

Eyelaya watched the read outs on the implants and hissed loudly. "How did I miss that!"

Ryan returned, and handed the water to Eyelaya.

"Her implants have been .... well for lack of a better word mutated."

Ryan nodded his agreement with that assessment. "Let's get the extra implants removed as soon as possible." Ryan didn't want to vocalize his worry, but Borg implants were notorious for quick adaptation, and he didn't no how long his fix would keep the overactive implants at bay.

All seemed to be stable until the biobed alarms started to signal that something was very wrong with T’Lanna. Readings of her pregnancy and baby within were going off the scale at an alarming rate. Before their eyes her stomach was starting to expand.”

Ryan quickly explained what was going on.

"What? That's impossible. How do you speed up a pregnancy?" Eyelaya was running her own scans. "Nevermind.....Nanos." She hurried to her took kit and pulled out a device. "T'Lanna I have to stop the baby from growing so much. This will shut down your nanos to 50%....which will not be fun."

She injected T'Lanna with something and brought up an instrument that resembled cortical stimulator. "I'm sorry..."she said. "This will hurt...a lot."

The moment Eyelaya did what she had to do the resulting shock to T’Lanna’s system forced her awake, she screamed as her back arched before she collapsed back into unconsciousness.
