Laying on a biobed under the watchful eye of Doctor Rose, T’Lanna slowly started to stir. Eyelaya hadn’t been kidding when she said she could have a headache after the procedure to remove her implants, her head was well and truly pounding. She opened her eyes squinting at the lights which seemed suddenly very bright. “R .. Ryan?” She shaded her eyes with her hand.
"Hey." Ryan spoke very softly. He had the computer lower the lights a bit, taking T'Lanna's hand at the same time. "I can see you've got a headache, but anything else?"
T’Lanna moved her hand away from her eyes now the lights were lower. “A bit dizzy” she offered the best smile she could muster given her headache. “Did it work?” Her hands automatically moved to her stomach her eyes widening with shock and surprise as they met a much larger bump than the one she had when she went to sleep. “What!?” She tried to raise her head to look but instantly regretted it as her head both spun and pounded. “What’s going on!!?”
"Woah, easy." Ryan continued to talk softly. He brought over a small glass of water. "Sip, breath, and I'll explain."
T’Lanna nodded and took a sip of the water before slowly lying her head back on the biobed. “What happened Ryan? Is my son alright?”
"He's fine. He was a little stressed there for a bit, but he's doing well. One of your new implants decided to try and super grow him. Eyelaya and I were able to stop it, but not before it got you to about 7 months along."
“How could an implant do that? They’re not capable of that!” T’Lanna paused. “Is it something the aliens did to me? They did seem to have quite an interest in my implants and my son too by the sounds of things.”
"Not normally, no." Ryan agreed. "But once we started removing them, whatever the Aliens did kicked up into high gear. I'm sure Starfleet Medical will have a field day studying, but I'm more concerned about you."
She offered a smile as she ran her fingers over her new size stomach. “I guess I’m going to need some new clothing. I wasn’t expecting to be this size for a while yet. I take it I’ll grow normally from here until my son is born?”
"Yes, with the new implants removed, your pregnancy should proceed normally from here." Ryan pulled over a tricorder and a portable screen. "Would you like to see him?"
T’Lanna’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Yes, please!! I’d like to keep the images too if possible.”
Ryan's smile widened at T'Lanna's excitement. "Of course. Looks like it's time to start the scrapbook." He maneuvered the portable screen so T'Lanna could see, then began scanning.
T’Lanna watched avidly looking at the images coming up on the screen, she couldn’t wait to see her son for the first time. “I take it the scan will show if there’s anything wrong?” She looked at Ryan contentedly. “Rapid growth could cause abnormalities right?”
"All those scans came back fine. I'll want to keep close tabs on you for a bit though. Make sure there are no adverse side affects. But really, so far things look perfectly normal, just a few months ahead of where you were."
T’Lanna smiled. It was amazing to see her son on the screen, she wiped her eyes as a few happy tears ran down her cheeks. “He’s a amazing Ryan! Thank you so much!!”
Ryan snickered. "Well I had nothing to do with it, but as for setting up the scan, it's really no problem. I was eager to see him as well."
“So do you have any plans for when we reach Earth?” She looked at Ryan as she rested content that her son was alright.
Ryan fiddled a bit, being extra cautious with his scans, taking ones he wouldn't normally bother with. "Well, I'm going to see my folks." He sighed. "I haven't told them about Sam, so I'm in for an earful."
T’Lanna nodded. “Good luck, if you need to talk when you get back you’ll know where to find me.” She smiled warmly.
"Thank You." Ryan replied sincerely. "And if you need anything while we are on leave, please call me."
“I most certainly will not!” T’Lanna grinned. “It’s your leave time I’m not going to spoil it for you by calling you away if I need something.” She smiled warmly. “You enjoy your free time my friend, as I’m going to attempt to do.”
