Goodbye but not forever

Mission: Operation: Ouroboros
Scarlet Rogers hurried through the crowd, trying to find Ryan before he left to go back to the Standing Bear. Gawd, she hated crowds. She'd been called to an emergency fix and was running a few minutes late. Internally, she was praying she hadn't missed him.
Finally, she spotted the blond hair behind a duffle. "Ryan," she called out, reaching her sooty hand for his arm, rambling, "I'm so sorry, there was an emergency, I wasn't avoiding a goodbye, I promise."
Ryan breathed a sigh of relief. He was afraid he was going to have to leave without getting to say goodbye. He ignored her sooty hand and pulled her in to a kiss. A kiss that was rather inappropriate for the venue.
Scarlet was momentarily startled at the action. They hadn't kissed yet, not like this, only on the cheek. Her heart felt like it was going to beat out of her chest as her breath got taken away. Gawd, was this swooning. She kissed him back, her hands resting on his chest. After a moment they came up for air and Scarlet stared at Ryan, her cheeks hot red and her lips pulled into a small, though still shocked, smile.
Ryan was smiling, and trying to look apologetic but he wasn’t actually feeling it. “My timing sucks, I know. But I’ve been wanting to do that.”
Scarlet felt like she couldn't blush anymore even though she wanted to. The ginger probably looked like a domesticated strawberry now! She looked to the floor, biting her lip a little, trying to regain composure, "I didn't think you were going to. I'm glad you did."
“Me too.” Ryan briefly caressed her cheek. “And now I have to go. I should have asked sooner, it’s not like I didn’t know I’d have to ship back out.” Ryan looked guilty. “I was just enjoying our own little bubble. But, I don’t want to stop seeing you. Can we continue seeing each other? Very long distance, I know.”
Scarlet smiled, "I assumed we'd continue chatting. I'd like to see where this goes. I'd be willing to try." She kissed him again softly, "Oh! Before you go- she fumbled in her pocket and brought out a fob like device, "some approved upgrades for the leftie."
Ryan chuckled and took the fob. “Thank you.” He looked back at the docking port. He really did need to go before Soral had to hunt him down. “I’ll call.” He promised.
"I'll look forward to it," she kissed him once more, letting her lips linger, "safe voyage." Her words fell from her lips with a sense of sadness. She knew it wouldn't be for long, but him being there had been amazing. They clicked. At the very least they'd be friends that kissed.
