Boston was bright, sunny, and peaceful when Ensign La’Sura arrived at the Boston square transportation hub. She had plans to meet up with some of the Standing Bear’s medical staff near Boston Harbor and grabbing lunch at a nice little seafood joint that sat on the harbor and had a great view of the water. There, she was going to have lunch and catch up with Doctor Alexander and Nurse Kay’la. A lot of the crew were spread out on Earth, others had taken a trip to Luna, while some maintained close proximity to the Standing Bear and were staying on Jupiter Station.
At 13:45 hours Earth time, Ensign Lu’Sura arrived at the restaurant and exchanged a quick smile with the hostess who Lu’Sura informed she was part of the ‘Blue Party’ which made the Caitian chuckle a bit. She loved the scent of the water and especially the scent of seafood be it raw or cooked. It had her whiskers twitching with pleasure. She loved the cuisine of Earth and she was certainly looking forward to meeting up with her shipmates.
Being led out onto the patio seating area, several tables were placed about. One of them had some familiar faces and the hostess gave the Caitian a nod and gestured her towards the table. “Your friends arrived a few minutes ago. I’ll send one of the wait staff over shortly for you all,” said the woman. Lu’Sura smiled and proceeded over to the table.
“Afternoon everyone,” Ensign Lu’Sura said with a purring. “Sorry if I have made you all wait on me. I am always running a bit late.”
"Afternoon" Jarin said with a smile and a slight nod of his head as the other arrived to the table.
Kay’la smiled as she greeted Lu’Sura. “You haven’t kept us waiting, there’s no rush.” She motioned to the empty seat. “Please sit down.”
Lu'Sura nodded and took a seat at the table. A small stack of PaDDs on the table contained an accessible menu. This was a place that prided itself on the old ways, serving food that was actually cooked rather than replicated albeit for those not up for such a culinary adventure, they had items that could be replicated. Not everyone, in fact, a growing few would partake in the consumption of actual crustacean or fish. Lu'Sura had no problem with it. On Cait, traditionalists still partook in hunts. Her family came from a clan of traditionalists.
"It is a shame that Doctor Rose could not come to meet us," she said of the Chief Medical Officer who had been spending his time in San Francisco. "I always enjoy his company. Anyways," she purred as she looked at the menu items. "What are you thinking of having? I may partake in a vice and have something with a kick to drink."
"A beer and a steak are looking pretty good to me" Jarin said with a smile looking up from his menu.
“Steak does sound appealing” Kay’la nodded in agreement. “It’s been a while since I was last on Earth, it’s nice to be here enjoying it.”
"Fresh beef is amazing" Jarin smiled slightly, he didn't want to offend anyone, but loved fresh unr-eplicated food.
“It certainly beats the replicated meat!” Kay’la smiled. “Replicators can only do so much where true flavour of food is concerned.”
"Oh perfect," replied the Caitian with a small pur. "I was worried about offending people. You both will be fine if I order some crab or lobster and crack those suckers open?" she asked with a chuckle. "I am in good company," she added. "I don't think I've set foot on Earth since the academy."
“Have what you like” Kay’la smiled. “I know the feeling, I haven’t visited Earth much since the Academy either. It’s nice to be back again though.”
One of the wait staff came over with a PaDD in hand, a nice looking Denobulan man probably in his 20s. "Good afternoon," he said to the group. "It looks like I have some hungry folks here. My name is Azeal and I'll be your server today. Does everyone know what they want? We can get those orders in for you."
Kay’la nodded. “I’ll order the Sirloin please, as it comes with a glass of Pepsi.” She grinned as she looked at the others. “I have a sweet tooth.”
"Beer and a ribeye medium rare" Jarin smiled and added "please."
"And I'll have the lobster tail with a side of fries, and I'll was that down with an Eelwasser," the ensign said. She purred at the Denobulan who took their orders and headed back into the restaurant with his PaDD.
Her tail flailed around and she looked at Doctor Alexander. "I think that Denobulan waiter likes you, Doctor" the Caitian said teasingly. "He was giving you a quick preliminary anatomy lesson."
"I'm" Jarin looked over at the Caitian and around the room "I'm not so sure about that" Jarin smiled and let out a little giggle.
Kay’la smiled as she looked around. “This place is pretty popular isn’t it?”
"It is," said Ensign Lu'Sura. She immediately shot up from her chair with a low growl, the hair along her spine standing up on edge. All around people began to stand up and watch to skyline. "That's not good."
A small Federation shuttlecraft was streaking through the sky with a puff of dark smoke trailing it. A fire soon ignited, engulfing the shuttle as it went plunging into Boston harbor causing a series of high waves to come towards the restaurant and other establishments. "I don't think the pilot ejected! I hope they had transporters."
Kay’la nodded. “There’s not much we can do about it from here, but hope whoever was in there got out safely.” She frowned. “I wonder what happened?”
"Could be a lot of things, but I'm not an engineer," she said grabbing a few shrimp from a waiter passing by with a tray of cocktail shrimp. "But I plan to go find out. There could be people hurt from the pieces that came off that shuttle."
“Agreed” Kay’la nodded. “They maybe in need of my medical skills.”
"What about you, Doctor? Coming with?"
“We could definitely use you down there Doctor” Kay’la smiled warmly. “We can all do our ship proud.”
"Aye" Jarin said between him and Kay'la they should be in good hands "we will just need to grab a med kit and maybe a few other supplies" he looked over at Kay'la.
"There will be some in the kitchen!" Exclaimed the Caitian.
