Mission: Operation: Neu Reich
Location: USS Standing Bear | Crew Quarters
Timeline: 2394 MD 03

ON:

This was a new chapter, a new home. This was going to be a fresh start and she could finally settle a little. Oh, it wasn’t guaranteed that this would last, the Captain still had get selected for his new post and then he had to state that he liked how she worked, this was very much a probationary period for both of them but she was confident that it would all work out as the universe saw fit.

Earlier that day she’d packed her things from the temporary quarters, not that she had a lot, and had had her stuff delivered to her new quarters aboard ship. Now she would get the formalities out of the way. She’d met the XO, the Chief Sec officer and now it was the counselor and medical.

She wasn’t fond of medical things but she’d managed to get that done on station and all the approvals sighed off on since the CMO for the standing bear was off ship. She was fit. Even with the cardiac procedure that she’d had done she was still fit as a fiddle.

Her appointment with the counselor took a bit longer but she genuinely liked the woman. Oriana was also glad that she could do it all in one day and this would leave her a few days to unpack and settle in. She didn’t like the fact that she would have a roommate but her roommate would be there in a day or so and that gave Oriana time to settle in a bit and get into the right frame of mind.

As she finished her must dos, she headed to her new quarters to be. Stepping inside Oriana looked around the dwellings that would serve as her new quarters.

It wasn’t huge but it wasn’t small either. It had a small kitchen which consisted of a hot plate, some cabinets, a small counter space and small sink. Open concept with a dining area right behind the small counter and two chairs.

The living area had a sofa and faced a screen for entertainment, a tiny shared space really and three doors; one off from the kitchen on the right that led to a shared bathroom. Upon entrance three steps from the entrance door to the right was one room and to the left was another.

Oriana looked at the room doors. “Well since I’m the first one here and my roommate is not, I’ll take the door to the right.” She walked inside seeing that the room was in fact a good size. Against the wall was a double bed with a mattress incased in plastic to indicate its new status. To the left was a closet for clothing, to the right was a small desk and chair facing the window to the stars. There was a three-drawer dresser which she appreciated and five-foot book shelf that was about 28 inches across. Not huge but big enough to hold her items. Just for kicks she went to the other room and found that it was laid out the same.

“Well fair is fair.” She shrugged. She went back to the room she’d selected dragging the items that were delivered there. She didn’t have much. It was relatively easy to set it all up. One bin held her clothing, shoes, purses, and scarves. She quickly hung the clothing, laid the shoes at the bottom of the closet after making sure she put a protective matt down, then she put her underwear and bras in one drawer, sleeping attire, t-shirts, gym clothing in another, and the top drawer was for her collection of scarves which she had way too many of. She always found something romantic about scarves and shawls.

After moving the empty bin out, she pulled in the bin that held her books, she didn’t like the kind you could read off a PaDD she preferred to hold and smell the book. There was nothing like it. After she finished that she found she had one shelf that was empty. That would be taken care of by her third bin that held her completed journals. Once those were in place, she put a bunch of empty ones along with her favorite fountain pens and inks at the desk. It was a bit inconvenient to have the small computer on that desk. She’d have to talk to engineering to get that removed or moved to the very end of the desk itself.

“Alright, that only took three hours.” She laughed. “Final touches!” She picked up the huge duffle bag and opened it. Five sets of sheets thankfully for a double bed and two comforters. She stored the extra sheets and comforter on the top of the shelf in the closet and then pulled out the extra pillows she bought, two for sleeping and four to put on the bed in a decorative fashion. She removed the plastic from the mattress and put on her own sheets and comforter and arranged her pillows and decorative pillows and all was done except her toiletries but she’d wait on those.

She called the crewmen to pick up the empty bins and bags and headed out to explore her new home and she had one more item to pick up before this would really be home.

Smiling entered the turbo lift. “And so, the adventure begins!”
