Kick

Posted on Sunday, 5 September 2021 - 11:42am by Lieutenant JG Adrianna Eberhardt & Crewman Leopold Eberhardt

Mission: Operation: Lazarus

Adrianna had somehow managed to avoid looking pregnant. She wondered if her mother had been the same with her brothers and her. After work, Adrianna had noticed that her uniform jacket had felt a little tighter and had quickly shed it, in favour of a cardigan when she arrived home.

A tiny bump. It was about time, she thought to herself. Whilst the crew now knew, with the gossip chain and all, there had been some skeptics since Adrianna was about half way and yet wasn't showing. Adrianna was a little jealous of the standard pregnancy tummy, but she was just grateful for a healthy baby.

She lifted her top over her stomach and smiled. "Are you awake now?" she asked softly, "you better still be awake when daddy gets home. He hasn't felt you kick yet and I'd imagine he thinks you have something against him." She stroked the part of her stomach she could feel the tiny kicks. It was an odd feeling, one of a weired bubble pop like pressure, but she could see her stomach move a little with the movement below it.

Hearing the door, she walked into the main room and smiled to Leopold, "welcome home. Baby is awake. Must have sensed you coming home."

"Momma too," Leopold commented as he dropped to his knees and kissed Adrianna's stomach. "Yes, mommy takes lots of naps now," he said with a chuckle and brought himself back upward. He was happy to Adrianna was taking it a bit easier.

He sighed. "It was a long day," he announced. "Terribly long day. What have you two been up to?"

Adrianna chuckled and stifled a yawn, "I've only just got home actually. I got stuck under some paperwork but not enough to just warrant doing it tomorrow. Just two things." She gestured to the bedroom, "my uniform is getting a little tight, so I guess bump is finally here."

"Sounds like somebody is ready for the maternity variant of their uniform," Leopold replied. "That little bump is soon going to be a much larger bump," he added. "You are going to be getting tired quicker."

"Don't wish the days away," Adrianna smiled softly, before taking Leopold's hand hand putting it on her stomach, "even the little one wants to tell you off for wishing the days away."

Leopold laughed. "I'm not wishing them away. I'm going to enjoy you being around more often. You'll be here when my shifts are finished, especially when you are forced to completely let go of your duties until you're ready to go back."

Adrianna smiled, "shh... Concentrate, you might feel the baby kick, finally." She moved his hand a little, "shh."

He kept quiet and he kept still for a few moments waiting. Then, it happened. He felt the life inside of her womb, what they created together. The baby had moved, kicked, and Leopold could feel it. "Oh jeez that is strange and beautiful at the same time...what's it feel like when the baby does that?"

"Like some sort of parasite that I should see a doctor about before it comes bursting out of my naval," she chuckled softly, "feels like love, but mainly a pushy pressure." Adrianna was glad he'd finally felt it. It had been a long time coming.

Leopold smiled "Ah yes, what a lovely little parasite we created together," he said to his wife, kissing her on the forehead. "You will be a good mother and I will be a decent father."

"You won't be the worst, I won't be the worst. We will screw up our child in our own unique ways," she darkly joked.

Leopold scoffed "we know we will not be the worst because we are already much better than our parents were."

Adrianna smiled and kissed him softly, "better looking, too." She gestured to her stomach, "this boy or girl will need to fight off lovers. I may shoot them for their mind."

This was the sort of stuff that attracted him to Adrianna. Even as she was pregnant and starting to develop a bit of a baby bump, she was still showing who she was. She was a fighter and she was not someone to mess with. She was strong, smart, and beautiful, and most importantly to him, she was his wife. A wife that would kick his ass if he did anything stupid. "I am sure they will not just fight off lovers, but pulverize any competition."

Adrianna chuckled, "they'd be brave and good at fixing things like you though, I hope. I'm useless at fixing things. I'm also useless at keeping up morale. You were the one that got us out of Ekos, you know. I found out from reports that it was your message that triggered Starfleet to make peace treaties."

Leopold grabbed his wife's hand. "Come, let's go for a bit of a walk and grab something to drink...maybe a nice mocktail for Mrs. Eberhardt? I'll find myself a nice juice that I like."

"You, sir, will be drinking for two, if I have to eat for two," she playfully commanded, "let me live through you so that I can feel like I can still drink."

Leopold looked at her. "We can find you a nice mocktail that you will hardly know the difference," he teased. It was not accurate. She would probably tell if it was not even remotely close to alcohol. She was Italian. "I don't want to drink in front of you. It is rude."

"Is the expression not 'happy wife, happy life'?" she asked, "you'll drink."

He nodded "I'll drink," he replied swiftly. "For the both of us, and then some."

She chuckled and kissed him again, "I'll make an Italian out of you, yet."
