Not so girls night

Posted on Saturday, 13 June 2020 - 5:10pm by Lieutenant Ryan Rose MD & Petty Officer 3rd Class Echo Smith

Mission: Operation: Iktomi
Location: lounge

Ryan was doing his best to take some down time. Things had been stressful since he returned from the mission. Actually they’d been stressful ever since he got here. But the lounge was just busy enough to be entertaining without being overwhelming. His eyes were drawn to a young petty officer. She was actively chatting with Baciami. Ryan hadn’t done her physical, but he knew from paperwork that it was one Echo Smith. Her personnel file didn’t do her justice.

Echo was telling Adrianna all about her date but not a date with Max. “A picnic in the stars, but he just wants to be friends. I mean come on, what is that about?”

"He made that clear to myself too, though I see him as a friend. I mean, it would kind of feel like I was dating myself otherwise," Adrianna began, noting eyes on them. She continue though, "I did however manage a second date with another guy though."

“Oh? Do tell!” Echo bit into her chicken with a smile. There was nothing better than a good dish about a cute guy.

"Met him whilst on base," Adrianna began, "we got talking, before I knew it, he'd kicked my chair from under me and had his lips on mine, asking for a date. I said yes. It went really well, but I never contacted him because work has been busy and I didn't want to be the first to cave. So a few nights ago, I couldn't sleep. Dropped him a message and we went for a walk in the holo suite. He's amazing. He's someone that scares me, but is also so gentle. Looking forward to date three. "

“Ooooh romantic then.” Echo smiled. “That can be nice.”

Adrianna smirked," great conversationalist, but I'd imagine what you'd actually like to hear is this: great kisser, certainly an insight, but we'll wait til next time perhaps to find out. "

“Date three and all.” Echo teased. She’d never cared to wait if she was interested, but she did understand the concept.

"Speaking of dates," Adrianna sipped her drink, "the resident CMO, Doctor Ryan Rose, hasn't taken his eyes off you since we came in. He's the blond in the booth to your right."

Echo wasn’t so naive as to turn and look, but she did smile. “Oh? Is he cute?”

Adrianna mulled it over, "fills out his uniform nicely. Human. Not my type, so definitely 'cute'."

“We need a refill.” Echo got up and went for new drinks, giving her a chance to casually glance over and check out the doctor. Echo was glad he wasn’t Adrianna’s type, other wise they would have to fight over him. He was definitely handsome.

Echo returned to their table, and placed Adrianna’s fresh drink in front of her. “How bad of a friend am I if I ditch you to go snag tall blonde and handsome?”

Adrianna chuckled, "I pointed him out to you, so technically it would be my fault anyway. Go. I'll finish my drink and we'll do girls night later."

Echo grabbed her plate and drink, smiled and winked at Adrianna, then wandered over and sat down across from Ryan. “You know, it’s much quicker if you just invite me over rather than wait for my friend to notice you watching and tell me.”

Ryan blushed.”I uhhh, ummm. Sorry.” He more or less babbled.

Echo just smiled. He was cute, and shy. It was kind of adorable. “Echo.” She introduced, stealing a fry off his plate.

“Ryan.” Ryan smiled. “You're a small crafts pilot, right?”

“I am, and you are the doctor, unless my intel is wrong.”

Ryan chuckled. “No your intel is quite correct. I’ll have to thank Adrianna for outing me.”

"Adrianna always said you should always be extra nice to doctors," Echo grinned, "i think she's right. I'll have to be extra nice to you, doc."

The two ended up chatting for hours. Not something Echo usually spent a lot of time engaging in. Not that she didn’t like to talk, she loved to talk, but it wasn’t usually such a long prelude to the bed.

With midnight quickly approaching, she tugged on his hand. “Walk me home.” She smiled. Certainly, that was clear enough.

Ryan stood up, and pulled her chair out for her as she went to stand up. “So ummmm, there’s probably a few things you should know.”

Echo just tugged him out of the lounge. “Tell me later.”
