Catching up

Mission:
Operation: Jabberwocky
Location: USS Standing Bear | XO's Office
Timeline: 2393 - MD 13 - Late Afternoon
{ON}
Having returned from Earth Soral was using his time no only to catch up on reports but to finish off some crew evaluations as well as to touch base with some crew members. He looked at his appointment. Raith would be next. He brought up Raith's file skimmed the pertinent points, a difficult task considering his mind was not cooperating today. He shut it down and decided he needed another holodeck session.
Raith was finishing off his latest task working on the Operations Station just outside of the Auxiliary Operations Room when his combadge beeped a reminder. He remembered that he was due to meet up with Commander Soral and had given himself a few minutes of a reminder, to make sure he was presentable.
Raith finished up what he was doing and rushed to the nearest turbolift, taking it down two floors to here his quarters were located. For once, as he opened the door, he wished that Tee wasn't there waiting to surprise him and his wish came true. It was great the way she did that but he knew right now that he needed to be in a clean uniform and on his way. As he made sure he was presentable, Raith realised he wasn't sure where the meeting was due to take place
"Computer," Raith asked, "Location of Commander Soral?"
"Commander Soral is in Holodeck One," replied the computer.
Raith made his way to the nearest turbolift and once he arrived on the same deck where the holodeck was located, he checked the ops panel to see that a Holodeck session was in motion. He pressed the chime for entry.
Soral shut down the program and exited. "Lieutenant Raith. Right on time. Walk with me. We shall head off to the office."
Raith stood to attention as Commander Soral exited the Holodeck. He fell in line after being instructed to follow him to his office and tried not to pay any attention to the fact he'd called him Lt Raith and not Lt Kolani. Raith followed Soral to his office and stood to attention once inside.
"Please sit." He said taking his own seat and bringing up his monitor. "Now I understand that you are back in command of Operations department."
Raith nodded as he sat down. "That's correct sir, with the Operations Department needing a new senior officer since Lieutenant T'Amar was re-assigned, I decided to step up and continue in the role," he explained. "I've been in the role since."
"Good. I am hoping that this time it will be more permanent. Give me an update on from an Ops perspective. How are things progressing?"
Raith smiled a little. "With your permission sir, I hope to make it more permanent. In fact, I was thinking of speaking with Commander Stillwater about making the position permanent. In regards to the Standing Bear, The Operations team is on top of things and make good progress with repairs and maintenance," he started.
"We're very luck that these new Merian Class starships have so many spare parts in use already form the fleet and are also easy to repair, most of the time. We've also been working alongside Engineering to speed up the schedule to make sure we finish ahead of expected timeframes and that we don't skip the processes at the same time." Raith paused to take a breath and wait to see what the XO wanted to know.
"Excellent. And yes please speak with Commander Stillwater. I shall send him my recommendation that we do make it permanent." He paused. "Now. You have some new Ops staff. One of which has vast engineering experience. I am beginning a new program where I will ask the department heads to meet with me on a regular bases and do a staff eval for me every six to eight months."
The rest of the meeting went well. Soral and Raith seemed to agree on several items and they'd gone through what was outstanding. When Raith left Soral sat back. He was tired but oddly encouraged by the way that business was flowing and by the way that the crew was fitting together.
Sighing he headed to the replicator to get himself a coffee. He had a long day yet and the next part of his day he was dreading.
