On the schedule

Posted on Thursday, 2 April 2020 - 5:48pm by Lieutenant T'Lanna Vali & Lieutenant Ryan Rose MD

Mission: Operation: Overdrive
Location: Counsellor's Office
Timeline: 2393

Ryan gathered a few PaDDs that he had been working on and consolidated the data to a single PaDD before dropping it into the pocket of his labcoat. He took one last sip of his orange juice and headed down the corridor to the counselor's office. He sounded the chime.

T'Lanna looked towards the door and smiled, she was already getting used to the sense of those she'd spent the most time around since boarding the ship. "Come on in Doctor!"

Ryan did just that. He entered with a "Good morning Counselor"

"Please call me T'Lanna" She smiled warmly. "What brings you here to see me Doctor?

"T'lanna." They'd had this discussion before, and Ryan just grinned. "It's Ryan" He remained standing, grabbed the PaDD from his pocket. "I have those crew files we needed to discuss."

T'Lanna grinned. "Thank you Ryan, let's have a look at them." She motioned for him to take a seat. "Make yourself at home and we can go over the files."

Ryan pulled a chair closer to her desk and took a seat. He was monitoring the Vulcan with the neurological disorder, but wanted T'Lanna to be in the loop. There were two more patients he wanted her input on. They were both on medication, but if therapy could help lower or remove the need, he wanted to use the resource. And of course Eyelaya.

"So what have you got for me?" T'Lanna smiled warmly as she looked at Ryan.

Ryan placed the PaDD on her desk. Then went into a rather lengthy summary of PO1 Quinn's case. "I don't mind treating the acute symptoms. But it's not an ideal long term solution. I know quite a bit about PTSD, but I'm not a therapist. He's not having luck with focussed breathing, and he laughed in my face at the journaling suggestion."

"I see" T'Lanna nodded. "As you know PTSD isn't that easy to treat, patients have to be willing to admit that they're suffering from Post Traumatic Stress to start with. Most sufferers all out deny they have a problem and there in lies the main problem. Perhaps try starting over and taking another route, come at it from a different angle."

Ryan nodded his agreement as she spoke. "That's probably what he needs. I've already told him I can't be his permanent counselor. Not only am I not qualified, he's come close to triggering me, and that is the last thing either of us need. I'm hoping you can help him."

"I can certainly try" T'Lanna nodded and smiled. "Have him come by and see me." She looked at Ryan curiously. "Is there anything I can do for you?"

Ryan let out a small sigh. "Not right now. Thank you. I'll let you know though."

She nodded and smiled. "Fair enough Ryan. So who do we have next?"

Ryan brought up the next file and the next, spending quite a bit of time making sure T'Lanna had all the information she might need. Once finally done he relaxed in the chair. "There is one more thing."

"Oh what's that?" She looked at Ryan curiously.

"Well Emerick, Eyelaya and I have been tasked with sending a proposal to Commander Soral. It started with the idea of a comedy night. Something to provide the crew with some R&R, improve moral, and build social ties. It has expanded to a more comprehensive.." Ryan thought for a moment. "Well crew mental well being plan I suppose is the best way of putting it. I wanted to get your input for the proposal."

"Oh I see" T'Lanna smiled warmly. "It sounds like a good idea to me, it would give the crew a chance to enjoy themselves. I suggest you make taking part voluntary rather than required though, there are those who prefer not to appear infront of an audience myself included!"

"Oh yes, of course. All of the activities would be voluntary." Ryan fished around for another PaDD. His labcoat was a very handy accessory. "I have a basic outline of offerings and timeframes. Would you mind just putting your 'good idea' into counselor talk to look good for the XO?"

"Sure" She held out her hand and waited for him to hand over the PADD before adding a well worded recommendation to the idea.

"Excellent, thank you. That's all I have." Ryan commented. "Anything you need to discuss with me?"

T'Lanna shook her head. "I don't think so. It looks like I've got plenty of work to be keeping me busy!" She grinned as she looked at him. In the back of her mind she was thinking it was a shame he was a married man, she wasn't one for flirting with married men.

"Yes." Ryan agreed. "Busy is good though. Makes the time fly." He stood up. "Thanks for your time."

"My pleasure Ryan" T'Lanna smiled warmly. "Feel free to drop by anytime."

Ryan waved as he headed out for his next meeting.
