{ON:}

Eyelaya had gotten her marching orders from the Engineer on shift. Ops had delivered a cooktop and a preservation unit and a few other things. She was being sent to the new counselor's quarters to help install it along with Senior Chief Henderson. Eyelaya wasn't pleased at seeing a counselor, especially a Vulcan. After her accident she'd been sent to see one and Vulcan counselor's gave her the creeps. It was why she left Vulcan to join Starfleet, well at least in part.

She and Henderson stood outside the woman's quarters and rang the chime.

T'Lanna was looking forward to having her cooktop and unit installed, she'd cleared room so the working area wasn't cluttered up and as she answered the door she smiled warmly. "Please come in."

Henderson walked in first, an older man he smiled brightly. "Hello counselor! We're here to do some installs."

Eyelaya followed cautiously.

"I've been looking forward to it!" She practically grinned from ear to ear. "I can't wait to get cooking!"

So far Eyelaya had avoided looking directly at the counselor. She hurried to the area where the cooktop was to be installed. They had to work carefully to ensure that there would be no danger of fire.

Henderson looked at her oddly. He hadn't seen that girl quiet since he'd met her. Shrugging he helped her get the area prepared. "So how you liking the place?" he asked.

"I like it very much. I'm settling in nicely so I can't complain" She looked at Eyelaya, the young woman was obviously uncomfortable with being in her company.

Henderson followed her line of sight. He had to admit he was worried. She'd been chatty as ever but when he told her where they were going she just shut down. He and Eyelaya lifted the top into place. "Alright. You hold her and I'll connect."

Before he could move Eyelaya beat him under and started connecting. He sighed and held the unit in place. So Henderson continued the chit chat. "How's your office working out? Any repairs needed?"

"None so far" T'Lanna gave Henderson a smile as she moved around to where Eyelaya was hiding under the counter. She waited until the connecting was done before surprising Eyelaya. "I get the feeling that you're avoiding me Chief Petty Officer." She offered a warm smile.

Eyelaya pulled out from under the little island and bumped her head. "Ouch!" She rubbed her head vigorously. "No...No... not at all ma'am. Just lots of work." She hustled to the preservation unit.

Henderson shook his head at the girl. He turned to the counselor. "I know, ma'am, that you're ex Borg would you be needing any ports installed...regeneration wise?"

"That's very kind but no. I don't require an alcove, my nanites have been reprogrammed to recharge while I sleep." She smiled warmly as she looked at Henderson. "If you have any specialists who know Borg tech in engineering then I could do with regular checks on my implants just to make sure the nanites are keeping them in good condition."

That got Eyelaya's attention. "Borg!" She seemed to get over her dislike of counselors in an instant. "You're ex Borg?" She poked out and noticed the woman for the first time. "That's so cool! I mean reprogramed nanites that are self charging? WOW. I mean WOW."

Henderson rolled his eyes. "And she's back." He shook his head heading to finish the preservation unit.

T'Lanna grinned it seemed she'd become Eyelaya's new curiosity all of a sudden. "I take it you like all things Borg Chief Petty Officer?"

Henderson rolled his eyes again. "She likes anything technology." He said but there was fondness in his voice.

Eyelaya smiled, "Ohhhh do you have the implant itches?"

T'Lanna looked at Eyelaya in surprise. "Actually...yes!" She smiled. "The doctor has given me some shampoo like I've used before to try and settle it."

Eyelaya waved. "Non-Synths! Honestly." She shook her head. "Okay so ... hold on." She went to the replicator and tapped on it. "Computer create a paste in the following ratio. Nine parts, two parts mayo, two parts garlic, one part cream cheese, four parts water, one part cinnamon." The computer buzzed and produced a dish. "Thank you!" She scooped it up and carried it to T'Lanna. "Okay so smells...strong but before you shower each night for about twenty minutes for two week and then once a week to maintain. Really works."

T'Lanna took the dish and offered a big smile. "Thank you. You said Non-Synths, are you a synth?" She gave Eyelaya a curious look.

She sighed, "I wish." She gestured to herself. "Unfortunately I am a Synth trapped in a non-synth's body."

Henderson sorted as he wiped his hands and walked towards the tool box to grab a fuser. He tapped Eyelaya in a fatherly manner on the head. "This one talks to replicators and names engines."

"Hey! I do not...okay I do but ever engine has its own personality and needs a name."

Henderson smiled, "Come on EEB, back to work."

She laughed and then saw the look on T'Lanna's face "Oh sorry EEB Emergency Engineering Bot." She grabbed a few things from her tools and went back to helping Henderson.

"Ahh I see" T'Lanna smiled and nodded. "Nothing wrong with having a love of something provided you don't let it run your life. I'd appreciate it if you'd be my liaison to engineering? You seem to be quite knowledgable on Borg implant problems."

"Yuppers! I love all things techy. Back at the shipyards where I worked before this we had a few ex Borg I did all the maintenance. For some dumb reason everyone fears them. Again. Non-synths!" She shook her head.

"Yeah some people do hate us" T'Lanna sighed. "I'm glad to have found people here that take me for who I am not what I was."

Henderson smiled, "It's a good crew...except the XO."

Eyelaya looked at him. "He's not that bad."

"Pfft. Makes Rura Penthe look warm."

Eyelaya sighed. "Maybe but he's nice....and hot...ignore I said that." She waved her hand.

Henderson rolled his eyes, "I'm one eyeroll away from needing new eyes."

T'Lanna giggled. "Commander Soral isn't all that bad actually. He's a true Vulcan that's all."

They both finished moving the unit into place. "All done." Henderson said. "Give it an hour or so and then you can have Ops bring any food you've purchased. Cooktop is ready for use."

"Thank you both so much!" T'Lanna rubbed her hands together with glee. "I'm so looking forward to cooking a meal."

Eyelaya smiled. "You're welcome" She waved and was out the door. Henderson stared after. "I need a scotch that girl will kill me."

"I like her!" T'Lanna grinned. "You know very well you do too."

He smiled, "Perhaps a little." He gave a nod. "Well if any issues give us a call."

T'Lanna nodded. "I will and thanks again."
