ON:

Mac raked his hand through his hair. "What the hell do you mean?" He turned to look at the doctor who, due to his facial expression, took a step back. A self preservation action.

"Just what I said. The Vulcan doctors will take a look at him but for now I think it best that you say goodbye and leave him to them for a day or so. This may be temporary or permanent."

Mac said nothing, his red facial colouring spoke volumes. He watched as the station doctor left. Taking a moment to calm himself he sat down hard and covered is face with his hands.

A throbbing in the back of his head started. Haru was awake, that was all that mattered. He would not take that gift for granted. The issue was that he couldn't walk, or talk, or even see properly, his motions were uncoordinated with his hands. The doctors had suspected that this would be an issue and one of the doctors, a Vulcan, had said that they were going to do a deeper examination of things. He believed that Haru would recover but it would take time and mind retraining.

What they were shocked about was that the bond that they had made on Earth at the Vulcan temple was not affected, it was the only part of Haru that was not affected.

Mac had never been so greatful for anything. Once he'd collected himself enough he stood and walked through the double doors. He needed to be with Haru, at least for now.

When he entered he saw Haru sitting up but staring off into nothingness.

"Kaito." He whispered as he took a seat by his side.

Haru turned in the direction of the voice and his hands grasped wildly. Mac gathered that he was trying to take Mac's hand which was on the bed by him. He instead stood and took Haru's hand in his sitting on the bed. "Haru, I'm here." He leaned his forehead against Haru's. "I know you can understand me. Listen to me. You will be well again. I promise. The doctors want me to leave but..."

At the sound of that Haru seemed to mumble incoherently. He wasn't talking but making sounds, grunts and gurgles that broke Mac's heart. "Haru... Please."

Haru was still agitated.

Mac let go of Haru's hand and grasped his face between his hands. "Haru listen. The doctors will do their exam and if they can help then they can. If not you and I will do this together. I promise. I'm not leaving you anywhere. You're coming with me, on my ship, your going to be with me and Soral and Alex and we'll all be there for you. You and I will have one another no matter what.

That seemed to calm Haru a little. He settled down his eyes still moving wildly. Mac leaned in and kissed his lips lightly. "I promise I will be back. Just a couple of days. Let the doctors try.

He let go of Haru's face and reached over to fluff his friend's pillow. "Alright, Lay back." When he had settled Haru he took his hand in his and held it. "I'm always going to be with you."

He sat there for hours until Haru fell into an exhausted sleep. When he was sure that all was okay he slowly kissed Haru's forehead and stood. He slowly left the bay feeling guilty for it but knowing that the doctors needed to try and get him back to his old self. It would take time.

He strolled the station a little and bought a few things he would need when the ship left. Once he'd returned those to the ship he went to get some food, something he'd rarely done since Haru was injured and then he retired to his quarters.

A quick shower and a cup of tea later he was just settling in when the call from Stillwater came in. He'd jumped at the chance to be busy for a day or so just to keep his mind off things. He'd just been about to settle into bed when his door chimed.

Sighing he stood and walked to the door. He wasn't exactly pleased at who stood there. "Grol."

"Sorry to disturb you but Commander Soral thought it best to move you to family quarters. Since ... well you won't be alone anymore."

I've brought some bins." He motioned to the two ops crewmembers holding bins. "Mr. Hernandez's items were stored in your new quarters."

Mac blinked and then stood aside watching the crew members dump the bins. "I don't have enough stuff to fill those."

"Whatever is filled we'll take."

He saw Grol out and then instead of rest he packed. He spent the night packing his items careful and his clothing. One bag filled he sat and wrote a note for Eyelaya in the early hours of the morning. She was on Earth and she'd checked on him constantly. He was torn with leaving her because she needed friends now more then every but Haru and he needed their privacy and he'd have his work cut out for him.

Haru had always been private about his personal life so this would be difficult on him. Mac just hoped that he could be what he needed to be so that the man he loved would come back to what he once was, and if not then he would love him anyway.

Something about his thoughts rang deep inside a part of him that he didn't often touch. He sat at the dinning room table for a few moments and then he wept. He cried out his pain for Haru and for everything that he was going through. Mac was a man who rarely did that if ever but now he felt so helpless and lost and with the emotions of the bond he knew he was feeling some of Haru's frustration.

How he wished he had the powers of Q maybe then he could reverse all this and fix everything. Finally feeling exhausted and bone tired he made his way to the bedroom and collapsed into a fitful sleep that would only last a few hours before he had to meet Stillwater at 0600. Still some rest was better then no rest.

Tomorrow would be a better day, he had to believe that.
