Systems Check

Mission:
Operation: Overdrive
Location: Psychologists Office
After completing his work on the inventory on the Cargo Bay, Raith noticed that the Systems checks in several of the ship's offices had not been completed. Whilst this was normally a simple job that could've done once the Fontana had left the yards, this also gave Raith a chance to meet another of the crew on board.
He smiled as he made his way to the nearest turbolift. One of the perks and a really good excuse to meet other officers and personnel was part of the job of an Engineer or an Operations Officer and this was the part he loved most. The turbolift arrived at the required deck and Raith made his way down the corridor to see if Lt Vali was in the Psychologists Office.
Despite the doors to each room on the ship having a specific designation, there were ways of starting a conversation and asking if you had the right room was one of them. Once he arrived at the Psychologists Office, he knocked on the wall next to the doorway, seeing that the doorway was open. Noticing a young woman in the office, Raith stepped forth.
"Excuse me, I'm looking for the Psychologists Office, am I in the right place?" he asked, noticing the young woman lookup.
T’Lanna smiled as she looked in the direction of her visitor. “It is indeed. Please come on in.”
Raith nodded as he walked in after the invite was given. Looking around he could see a Wall Panel that he'd need to work on as well as calibrating the controls. "I'm Lt Kolani, Chief of Operations," he said introducing himself.
“I’m T’Lanna Vali, ship’s Psychologist and Counsellor. What can I do for you?”
Raith pulled out the tricorder from his toolkit before he started to work. "I'm completing systems checks on the onboard operating system and several offices and empty quarters were on the list which hasn't been worked on yet," he explained. "As your office is marked as occupied, I need to check it first as a priority to make sure everything is running to specs."
“In that case please feel free to do whatever you need to do.” T’Lanna motioned around the office. “My office is all yours.”
"That's most kind of you, thank you," Raith said as he moved over to the Wall panel and started working away on the various operating systems it used and making sure that it was up to specs and interfacing properly with ships operating system and computer.
As he worked away, Raith decided to strike up some conversation.
"So, Lt, may I ask what brings you to the Fontana? It's lovely to meet a fellow officer and a member of the crew," he explained.
“What brings me here?” T’Lanna smiled. “I was offered a transfer and I decided to take it. It’s not every day I get offered the position of Head of a department. Oh and please feel free to call me T’Lanna.”
"Thank you, T’Lanna. Please, call me Raith," he said as he worked away at the console. "Its good to meet you. Myself, I transferred over from the Capitoline. I was the Assistant Chief Operations Officer onboard before coming over. We spent some time on tour near the Cardassian Border and ran into some Breen on several occasions."
He stopped for a moment and smiled. "God, I just realised that I almost sounded like some sort of action hero from that small explanation," he said. He turned back to the Wall panel and began the sync sequence. "That wasn't meant that way at all... I'm actually happier when things are ticking over just fine." He carried on with his work, also acutely aware of how good looking T’Lanna was and he focused on his work.
“Same here!” T’Lanna smiled warmly. “Things are so much easier when they tick along in an organised fashion. I hate it when things go pear-shaped!”
"Although, things going pear-shaped can often be a challenge in a good way as well," Raith said. "And a challenge is often what we Starfleet Engineers cell at. Luckily, this hasn't been too difficult a challenge." as he finished his sentence, Raith typed in a few commands and the Wall Panel lit up ready for use and connected to the rest of the ship.
"There we are, good as new," he said. "You're all up and running now. Should you have any issues, give me a shout, I'll have a look at it or get one fo the team to pop you a visit."
“Thank you Raith” T’Lanna smiled warmly. “I’ve no doubt I’ll work perfectly.”
Raith smiled once more as he packed up his kit and made sure that everything was in order. He turned to speak to T’Lanna once more.
"Well, that's everything, I'll er... I'll let you get on then. I'm sure they'll be calling us soon for a meeting or something to get us underway," he offered. He suddenly felt a bit nervous and couldn't explain why. He paid it no mind as he went to leave. "I'll er, see you around, T’Lanna."
T’Lanna nodded and smiled. “I’ll see you again Raith.”
