Ekos 10 - Glaube über Angst

Posted on Wednesday, 21 April 2021 - 11:58am by Lieutenant JG Adrianna Eberhardt & Crewman Leopold Eberhardt

Mission: Operation: Peace or P'Jem

Apparently the nazi's had a little bit of a heart. A week in and partners who were in prison together, were allowed to see eachother. It was for a few reasons, the main being a hope that someone would say something incriminating. That said, guards would not be stationed in sight, but certainly in ear shot.

Though told about the ability to see Leopold, Adrianna was curled up in bed with her back to the door. Adrianna's cell door was open, but she couldn't find the energy to move. Every part of her hurt. Thankfully she'd managed to clean off most of the blood, but some was just too painful to clean and she wasn't convinced that the water was even clean.

Adrianna sniffled a little, and curled up a little tighter. The woman had been crying softly, mostly from the pain. She'd refused to break in front of a guard but had struggled to keep it together away from prying eyes. All she could think was that after this she would need to apologise to Leopold for missing an opportunity to see him. It would have been a break from the misery that the prison enforced on its residents.

Leopold looked pretty rough when he was brought in, limping and his face bruised. He looked like a rat that had been living in a hell hole. Ekos was certainly turning into hell for them both. "Ade," he said taking a seat.

Though he looked terrible, his spirits were not entirely broken. He was pained with the death of his sister and father, but somewhere his mother was alive to the best of his knowledge. His present physical condition was the aftermath of an intimate beat down, punishment for what he had done.

Adrianna slowly and painfully rolled over. She wiped her eyes and offered a smile, "hi." The woman looked him over and her jaw went a little slack, "Oh gawd, I'm so sorry." Stiffly, she tried to sit up, "you get that because of me?"

"No," he said reassuringly. "I got it because of me," he added proudly. "I kneed a Nazi in the balls, and took his keys and broke into their radio room...a communications room. I was able to transmit a primitive signal" he said plainly.

However, he soon switched a language he and Adrianna could understand. "They think I was just trying to contact Zeons on the planet through a radio signal, but it's a red hearing. I sent a transmission to a Zeon orbital satellite, using it to piggyback off of and hopefully a Federation starship looking for us will be smart enough to check all frequencies."

Adrianna nodded and felt pride well up in her. She shuffled off the bed, managing to get to her feet and walked over. She hugged him, though gently for both her sake and his. "That is amazing, but we can only dream of Starfleet approving our extraction," she paused.

Adrianna let Leopold go and knelt down in front of him, she couldn't stand any longer. She looked up to his eyes, "that said, please, I am begging you, don't get into anymore trouble. You cannot leave me here. Not alone."

"We aren't dying here. Enough of my family's blood has been shed on Ekos. Starfleet may not approve of it, but someone is coming for us. The Standing Bear, Zeons, your brother...somebody will."

Adrianna rested her cheek on Leopold's knee, "you are one hell of a strength and optimist. You know that right?" She reached up and touched his cheek lightly, so as not to hurt him. For everything he had been through, he seemed un phased, though Adrianna could see a spark of change maybe even courage in him. The man she'd originally fallen for, she couldn't see getting into a fight purposely for anyone in order to send a signal, knowing the consequences. The man that sat before her was one with confidence, or stupidity, it was a fine line.

Leopold smiled. "I have to be optimistic. That is usually your job, and you are doing a terrible job at it. Now, stop dwelling on me dying here. I'm going to focus on holding out until we get rescued from this hell hole. Then, I'm going to marry you and we are going on a honeymoon to somewhere far away from Nazis."

Adrianna leant up as best she could and kissed him. A smile crossed her lips, "But I heard Ekos is beautiful in the Summer." She teased, pretending to look greatly disappointed.

"I'm not getting married looking like this though," she gestured to bruises and swelling on her person, mainly her face, "that said, you a bit roughed up is somewhat rogue-ish." She chuckled a little, "I'm just in disbelief you hurt a guy just to get a message out and you even put up with the consequences. That is the most endearing part." She kissed him again, "I love you - oh - your mum hates me though, so I hope you're not a mother's boy."

"She will learn to love you," he smiled. "You can have this rogue in the sheets once we get our asses off this planet and back into our quarters. Just try to keep your faith."

Adrianna couldn't help but smile and chuckle softly, "if you have faith. I will too. But how about medbay first, hm?" Adrianna groaned, laughing, and even smiling, hurt, "I think the guard with the little penis broke a few things."

She looked to Leopold's eyes, "I have never been so grateful for a man that only wanted to beat me, instead of fulfil the fantasy I beat out of him. Ever. Apparently there are standards." She looked to the floor, "that said, after he did it, I just couldn't focus on language, which pissed him off more so I pleaded with him to get you. I genuinely thought he was going to kill me if I didn't give him something. So I'm sorry I got you dragged in."

"If you have to give them information to stay alive or not get beaten, do it." Leopold was firm on that. "I mean don't give them anything crucial, but I am sure you can make some believable lies up. They don't have the technology nor knowledge to check if you are being entirely truthful. Fake it until freedom."

Adrianna looked back up and nodded. "I will," Adrianna replied, "I can't see them coming back to me for anything else though, surely." She gestured to a guard outside that sneezed, "surely at this point it would just be amusement. Sport, perhaps."

She did sit back a little, scooching back to her bed. The woman pulled herself up with a groan of aches and pains and laid down, trying to find a comfortable position, "promise me that I can hunt that guard for sport once we're out - it would be a wonderful wedding gift, or even hen night. Oh, but also promise me that wherever we honeymoon, we can have a bed that is thicker than an inch, is clean and is at least a double."

"When we are sprung from this prison, freed from this planet, I would not hold you back from destroying it entirely if that were an option," he said without missing a beat. Sure, he knew there were innocent people on Ekos, but the price he paid personally on Ekos was one too costly for forgiveness.

Adrianna looked over to him and smirked, "just what I always wanted. A planet to go up in smoke at my finger touching a shiny red button."

She patted her bed. She wasn't about to get naked, but she did want to be held properly. "Can I just have a few minutes of silence to get being miserable out of my system?"

"Take all the silence you need" he replied. There time on Ekos would be indeterminable for now, but hope was the one thing keeping Leopold from breaking entirely. Hope and Adrianna was all that he had left. If he lost one, he'd lose it all.

Adrianna curled up to him as best she could. "Thank you," she whispered. Just feeling him there was enough to ease her mind from spiralling out of control with negativity. If Leopold had faith that they would get out, then she had to trust him, or else what would there be to live for? She fought back tears, in a moment of feeling the need to break, but have in knowing she'd feel better for it. The woman cried silently into his chest and she would remain there until the visiting hour was up.
