Mission: Operation: Neu Reich
Location: Star Base 21 | Various
Timeline: 2394

ON:

Alex would be working most of the day and night helping the Star base Engineers with the science department. He had a few meetings later in the day but the quiet drove him to the station. He'd been walking for hours, the arboretum, the gym facilities, just to see what they offered, the shops, the food area, now he finally found a Vulcan restaurant and entered. Sitting down by the window where he could watch the stars he ordered a spice tea.

N'vek's departure left a hole of silence and while Vulcan's valued their silence he was finding it hard at the moment. Severine's accusations this morning did not help. He'd finally told them about N'vek and that he'd been there a few days and Severine had displayed a temper worthy of her mother...one that surprise him but then Evesta always had surprised him.

Suddenly his thoughts turned to Selin. He wondered how she had faired.

As though thoughts of her caused her to magically appear, Selin walked into the restaurant just a few moments later. Her eyes glanced around. She didn't see a host or hostess, but she did spot a familiar face. She headed directly to Soral's table. "Good Morning." she greeted. There was a smile behind her eyes, if not on her face.

Soral looked up. "Selin. I was thinking about you just now." He motioned. "Please join me." He was happy to see her.

She sat. "You may have unconsciously sensed my presence." She commented. Selin turned her head, clearly looking. "You are alone?"

"Yes, Alexandra is working and I am...attempting to maintain my sanity." He wondered if Rose had called her for a consult.

"Perhaps after a meal, we can go somewhere more private and talk." Selin offered, all casual innocence.

He thought it over. "Yes, that would be appreciated."

Selin seemed in no big hurry though. She ordered a spiced tea for herself, and a small savory pastry. While the conversation they needed to have would be in private, there were matters she wanted to talk to him about that didn't need such privacy. "I will be transferring to Vulcan soon." She started off.

"That is good. Was it a personal choice or mandated by Vulcan?"

"A personal choice. I was not sure they would accept me, but there was an opening, and they felt I would be a logical fit at the medical academy." She briefly explained. "I have decided to have a child."

His eyes widened. "Well they will accept your, firstly and secondly a child?"

"Yes. I had assumed I would eventually find a mate, and have the traditional nuclear family. But it seems that those circumstances are not to be. It does not lessen my desire to be a mother." She didn't glare at him, but looked firmly, not quite a challenge, but something very firm in her gaze.

"Well then it is a desire you should follow. I never wished for children and now I have four. I cannot imagine life without them."

She obviously relaxed at his acceptance. "I would not ask you to be a donor, but do you have any recommendations?"

He thought about it. "That depends on whether you wish the child's father involved in the child's life."

After discussing her thoughts about possible donors, and finishing her tea and pastry Selin looked over to Soral. "Thank you for your thoughts on the matter. Shall we go discuss your issue?"

He gave a nod. It would be nice to discuss this with someone openly and he trusted Selin. Not only was she a doctor but he considered her a friend. He also wanted to know about his options but he was also mindful that she was an ex of sorts, the had nights together and he was married and Alex may not like this. So a private public setting was in order. "The Observation lounge?"

Selin seemed to read if not his thoughts, then at least his line of thinking. "That would be lovely." She stood to follow him out. They were able to find a quiet area, and Selin headed for a booth, where she curled her small form up. She looked over at Soral expectantly.

He didn't know where to start. "Do you remember when I told you that something happened on Earth where the bond with Alex was severed?"

"Yes." Selin replied simply, then gave him a small 'go on' gesture, more in the eyes than anything else.

"The damage...she is still healing, she is closer to being able to bond again but I won't risk her by doing it too soon."

"Logical. I understand you would not want to risk the health of your mate."

"I am now nearing the end of stage one of Pon Farr. I am close to the second stage and … we are not ready to bond yet. Meditation has worked thus far but it is slowly becoming less and less effective. Soon I will need to turn to medical options...and if I go into stage three and we are unable to bond then it will be too late." He sighed. "I must find a solution."

"Have you any options so far? Have you consulted with a healer?" Selin asked.

"We will do so shortly but...the captain has a solution of sorts...Would cryo-stasis work?"

"Well, theoretically yes. But without your conscious presence Alex may be slower to heal, or fail to do so at all. Even unbonded, there is a link there." Selin momentarily steeled herself. "Do you think a strictly biological assistance would curb the pon farr?"

"It has not so far. Alex and I...have tried." His face took on a hue of green.

"That may be due to her being Non-Vulcan." Selin had no such embarrassment discussing the topic. "I had the same issue, until a Vulcan sex therapist was able to assist. If it becomes necessary, or you both feel it would be worth an attempt. I can assist, or help you find another who would be willing."

"It is appreciated but I cannot. It would be an infidelity, not by our terms of course but by the Human and El Aurian standard." He smiled a little. "Your offer is appreciated."

Selin nodded. "I understand, but if it becomes a dire need, the offer is there."

"There is another factor...I do not think that I could bring myself to be with another woman, even if it was to save my life."

Selin smiled. "That's very...." She paused, looking for the correct word. "Sweet. I will of course respect your decision, but do let me know if there is anything I can do."

He gave a nod. "Perhaps speak with Doctor Rose with respect to the Medical means of maintaining my current state and the risks of cryo-stasis."

"He's already contacted me for a consult. I will be meeting with him tomorrow. "
