Mission: Operation: Neu Reich
Location: USS Standing Bear | Captain's Ready Room
Timeline: 2394 MD08 - Morning

ON:

Oriana took a deep breath. This was it. She was meeting her official boss. Straightening her uniform she rang the chime and waited to be let into the ready room.

Barret had the doorway open, letting the woman in. "You must be..." Captain Stillwater said glancing over at a PaDD. "Ensign Seth?" he inquired, a pleasant yet professional tone. "Come on in, Ensign, and have seat."

"Sety sir, and I am indeed." She smiled as she entered. "Thank you, for the seat offer." She sat down and waited for him to do so.

Stillwater rubbed his eyes and looked at the PaDD. Nope, it said Sety. "Sorry, I clearly haven't been getting enough sleep. Ensign Sety, looks like Starfleet Command is feeling lucky, jumping the gun a bit and assigning me an Aide-de-camp. Was the Standing Bear an assignment you requested specifically, or handed to you?"

"Actually it was handed to me. And it's not really jumping the gun I like to call it preparing. This way we see if you like working with me and I like working with you and if you get the position then we can hit the ground running." She smiled. "And please call me Oriana."

"You may call me Captain," Stillwater replied taking a sip of steaming tea. "Oriana, I like your way of thinking. I was not particularly fond of my previous yeoman, but he did his job well. I know that you will do yours as well, if not better, but what I really need to know is who are you?" He inquired with those words and leaned forward, looking at the woman. "What makes you different than any typical yeoman that they would throw my way, and do not make it about your commissioned rank."

"It's not about rank, Sir." She sighed. "You'd have to start with a tough one huh. I hate talking about my self that's usually where I fail on interviews but here goes. It's about loving my job. I love to organize, to make life easier for others. I'm good at schedules, and speech writing and I'm pretty damned creative. I adapt easy to people I work with and am diplomatic even when wanting to throttle people." She smiled sweetly. "I also understand, from your record that you are the type of man who loves to do things on his own but I guarantee you with all that you have to do you will need help. I'm not here to control your schedule or spoon feed you or change your diaper I am here to help you make sure everything is done and know what needs to be done and just keep an eye on the dates and deadlines...and keep the brass off your back and appeased."

Stillwater grunted. "Delightful answer, but just for clarification, I am not a lone wolf. I do not take things on and shoulder them myself. I will work with others, but only those who I trust. If I don't trust someone who serves aboard this starship, they will not be here for very long."

"As it should be. If I don't trust someone that I work for I won't be here that long either." She smiled. "Now. That all said I did not say you were a lone wolf but I know you are a man who likes to do things himself you don't like to be treated with kid gloves so I won't do that. I'll be honest with you I just ask that you are equally as honest with me. Keep an open mind. Let's try this if it works great, if not we move on no fuss no muss." She looked him in the eye. "Agreed?"

"Agreed, ensign," replied Stillwater. He was sure to use her rank. A subtle reminder that she needs to swing in her own weight class, and not too high. "We will make this work if it is meant to work."

"Excellent. Now first thing on the list what would you like to see in a good assistant?"

That was an easy enough question for Captain Stillwater to answer. "Grol had the tendency to not shut up, and be overly social with the crew," stated the man. "He was pleasant and professional, a fine Yeoman for someone else, just not for me. I need someone who can work independently, know what needs to be done, and just does it. If you have gotten this position, I trust you know what to do. I do not want to have to be double-checking your work. He always had me look things over. Unless it needs my authorization, I do not need to see it. Filter out important information and transmissions from those that are unimportant. Triage my workload effectively."

"That I can do." She smiled, "As for Grol he left a note for the next yeoman... it was interesting to read. What about the XO are you against me helping out if he needs it too?"

Stillwater shook his head. "There's less than one hundred souls aboard and only nine decks. Commander Soral does not have a yeoman. I consider you may be my aide-de-camp, but Soral is my right hand. Assist us both as part of your duties aboard the Standing Bear, ensign. Though I caution you, Soral is not as easy to socialize with."

'Noted!" She said. She'd already met the XO. "Well okay then. I guess that's all on my side. I have to go through tactical phaser qualifying as per Lieutenant Mackenzie and Lieutenant Zilth and then I guess I can hit the ground running."

"Yeah, that would be Lieutenant Zilth and Lieutenant Mackenzie for you," replied Stillwater. "Zilth especially. He will not anyone aboard that cannot properly defend the starship from an invasion."

"Indeed." She smiled, "He and Commander Soral attempted a good cop bad cop routine on me. They made it clear that I was to be on my best behaviour and Lieutenant Zilth made it clear how much you mean to him. they both wish to ensure that you are in good hands."

Stillwater shook his head. "I gave up on leaving my starships for any sort of mission long ago."

She smiled. "Indeed. I'm really happy to be working with you Captain." The rest of the chat was pleasant and soon she found herself heading back to her quarters. She would hit the ground running tomorrow and her first stop at 0645 was the XO's office and then she'd be going about her duties.

The chat with Stillwater was enlightening and he'd shown her around the files. She had to admit for a Captain that had this far away rep he was an awful big teady bear of a person. She decided that she quite liked him. This was going to be an interesting posting, a new chapter.
