T’Lanna had been feeling off colour on and off for days, deciding to be better safe than sorry she decided to drop into Sickbay to see Ryan. No sooner had she arrived in Sickbay and reached Ryan’s side the room spun and she fainted.

Ryan wasn't quick enough to catch her, but he was quick to scoop her off the deck and head out of the morgue to the nearest bio bed. She had a moderate goose egg, but no other apparent injuries. Ryan decided to do a full set of scans anyway. "ohhhh" Ryan took a more detailed scan of her midsection while a nurse fussed over the minor head injury.

T'Lanna slowly opened her eyes, she was surprised at first before the memory of the world spinning kicked in and she realised what had happened. "Sorry Doc...I didn't mean to go faint on you!"

"It's quite alright." Ryan assured her. "Hardly the first time that has happened." He smiled. "Feeling better? Need some water or anything?"

"No, thank you." She offered a smile before feeling the soreness from her bump to the head. "How big an eggshell do I have on my head? I don't know why I fainted, I don't usually."

It's not too bad, and it's perfectly understandable under the circumstances." He motioned for the nurse to give them some privacy. "T'Lanna, did you know you are pregnant?" He asked. He was surprised she hadn't mentioned it during her initial checkup, but with how early it was in the pregnancy, she may very well not know.

“What!?” T’Lanna propped herself up on her elbows and looked at Ryan. “I’m...pregnant!” A small smile crept across her face. “No I...how far along?”

"Right about 7 weeks." Ryan smiled back. "Perfectly healthy little embryo you have there."

T’Lanna nodded. “I guess I know why I fainted now. Doctor...Ryan, I’m a hybrid and my baby’s father is...” Her smile faded. “Was...Human. Is it going to cause problems?”

No more so than any pregnancy." Ryan assured her. "We have plenty of data on human, vulcan, and betazoid cross species development. "I've also done a full pediatric and neo natal rotation, and the EMH is well programmed. You'll be in good hands."

“Of that I’ve no doubt!” T’Lanna smiled. “I guess that explains why I’ve been feeling off colour. I never gave a thought to being pregnant, I thought my late cycle was due to the stress of losing Jason. He was a close friend, we both got a little drunk and one thing led to the next and...” She smiled. “I was devastated when I lost him, at least now I have a part of him back.”

I'm sorry we didn't catch this at your initial checkup, but finding a pregnancy that early you really have to go looking for it. I'm glad this is good news. Do you need me to inform the Captain for you?"

“No it’s okay thank you, I’ll speak to the Captain myself about it.” She offered a smile. “My senses are a little foggy but I think that’s linked to the bump to my head, that and my own feelings getting in the way. I appreciate your help Ryan.”

"It's no problem really. Let's get that bump fully sorted before you go." He grabbed an ice pack and offered it to her. "There are plenty of safe pain medications, so let me know if you need one, but cold works just as well for minor bumps, and makes the patient sit still while it works." He smiled. "You should also feel free to take any time off you need. It's not my strong suit by any means, but I can help cover your patients if you need me to. I don't mind."

T’Lanna smiled and nodded. “Thank you. I’ll let you know if I should need any time off, I want to try and keep to my duties if I can. I know morning sickness can be awkward but once I’m past that it’s just a case of putting my feet up while I talk to people, the upside of being a counsellor and psychologist is that a lot of the work is desk work. Not all of it though of course.”

Ryan nodded. "Maybe you'll get lucky and miss the morning sickness all together. My sister did the first time."

“Possibly” She nodded. “I’ve felt queasy but that’s it so far. I’ll have to make sure I eat properly too, I’m not one for eating all the recommended foods. I want to make sure I do what’s right for the baby.” She smiled the biggest smile yet.

Ryan grabbed a PaDD with a smile, then downloaded a few items. "Here, doesn't hurt to brush up on the basics. Diet, exercise, rest. A few guides for you. And if you ever have any questions or concerns, feel free to call me anytime. Even if it's 2am"

T’Lanna nodded as she put down the cold compress Ryan had given her for her bump. “Thank you, I’ll try not to call you at silly hours of the night with questions.”

"Don't worry about it if you need to." Ryan waved off the concern, taking the cold compress and recycling it. "Now in my professional opinion it's time for a snack and a nap. Chocolate chip cookies and milk optional, but highly encouraged."

“Hmm sounds lovely!” T’Lanna grinned. “Am I free to go home or do I need to stay here?”

No, you're free to go. I don't think we need to keep you for observation. But if you do get a sudden headache, or acute nausea, anything like that, then come back."

“I will I promise” She slid herself down off the biobed. “Thank you so much for everything. Oh and if you should need to talk anytime, you know where to find me.”

"I do." Ryan nodded. "Congratulations."

T’Lanna nodded and headed on her way. It felt good to have something to celebrate.
