Just An Accident

Mission: Operation: Iktomi
Location: USS Standing Bear | Mess Hall
Timeline: 2393 - MD05

{ON:}

Baciami could shake the paranoia, so had asked to meet with Maximus and Eyelaya. She brought a PaDD and drummed her fingers on the table in the mess hall.

Mac walked into the mess hall. The call from Baciami had come in late. He wondered what was going on. Spotting her immediately he went to the table. "Hi there."

Adrianna looked up and smiled, "hi, sorry it's late. I'll explain when Eyelaya is here."

Just as he spoke Eyelaya came bouncing in waving enthusiastically.

Mac groaned. "Oh my gods. She's too happy." He briefly dropped his head on the table as if in exasperation.

Adrianna smirked and nudged a spare mug of coffee towards him. "I'll make this quick, though it may turn into something long."

"You are a peach."

Adrianna chuckled and waved Eyelaya over, "ok, so I need to ask a question about the events of the night before last."

Eyelaya "sat down looking tired. "I was about to call you both on that."

The fact that Eyelaya had said that, made Adrianna feel a little less bad about feeling paranoid, "with the new mission and the state in which the universes are in, it keeps playing on my mind that something like that would happen by itself. I wanted to ask you again, Eyelaya, if there is any part of you that feels this could be more than just an accident."

"Perhaps. One of the wall panel fuses," She looked at Mac. "The one I showed you looked odd. The Chief Engineer is looking it over. On the surface it looks... okay but something is off. I can't explain it."

Adrianna nodded looking to Mac, "call it paranoia, but my stomach doesn't feel right about this."

Mac sighed. "The Chief Engineer is looking into things. Let's hold off until then."

"It's something my family would do- distraction whilst something bigger goes on. I think we should keep wider vision."

"What could someone possibly want?" Eyelaya asked.

Adrianna looked to Mac, "a weakness, time to plant something, to gain insight, information. The list goes on."

He sighed. He was the investigations officer. "Alright so lets get a few things down." He looked at Adrianna. "So, do you have a PaDD?"

Adrianna slipped hers to the middle of the table, "of course."

"Alright. Let's get a list going. Who had access those panels."

Eyelaya started the list. "Anyone in engineering."

"What about at the actual time? Say an hour before," Adrianna asked, "for example a member of Security doing the rounds or medical fixing a headache."

Mac sighed. "Could be tactical and Ops they both worked on the panel. So all of us in Tactical should go on it as well as ops. And Soral he worked on the Tactical panel but not in the cargo bay."

"Motive though?" Adrianna sighed, "and alibi for reasoning. A person wouldn't want to actively hurt themselves, as an example, but it would also put them as an assumed victim not activist. If that makes sense."

He took the PaDD. "Okay we can strike off these two Tactical Officers right away. This one is new hasn't been cleared to work yet and he was sick since just before we got to the station so he didn't work on the panels."

Adrianna nodded, "cross off yourself and Soral. Injuries could cave caused death, so it would have been a martyrdom instead of merely looking like a cover-up."

"Also Chief Ops and Chief Engineering they are new and Eyelaya"

She looked up. "Me? I would never!"

"It's innocent until proven guilty - hell, I should be a suspect with my past, but I'm sure you'll ok," Adrianna offered to Eyelaya, "something to consider though." Adrianna thought a moment before feeling the need to ask, "will this all be fixed before mission - this won't be a weakness for intruders, right?"

"It'll be fixed." She said. "We've almost got things done."

Mac sighed. "Alright well let's wait for the Chief Engineer for final confirmation." He sighed. "Also I'm not sure about T'Paris. She's a Vulcan. I don't think she could do this."

Adrianna simply nodded, "I'm just here to offer suggestion from experience. If you need anything, let me know."

He gave a nod. He needed this like a hole in the head. He hoped that the Chief Engineer found nothing but he had a sinking feeling Adrianna was right.

Adrianna stood up," if you'll excuse me, I have a to do list I need to continue with. "

He sighed. "Alright."

Eyelaya looked at Adrianna. "Can I walk you out?"

"Of course, " she replied with a smile.

Eyelaya stood and they walked out. She looked back as the door closed. "He's tired." She said.

"Understandable," Adrianna replied, "are you ok? I didn't mean to tread on your toes in regards to you saying you felt it was just an accident."

"No that's okay. I understand. I'm just tired. This has not been a fun time." She sighed. "Plus I've been working on my shield a lot."

"Soon as this is over, I think you need a break," Adrianna offered, putting an arm round Eyelaya's shoulders, "I think there are going to be a lot of people that will need a break."

She smiled. "I hope so. It would be nice to get to read some technical manuals...and maybe ogle some good looking people." She laughed.

"The latter one - gawd yes," Adrianna chuckled and walked Eyelaya most of the way back to her office.

Eyelaya was just about to start working when she got the call to report to the transporter room. She sighed. "On my way!
