Previously on Medical Emergency...

Eyelaya was sitting up. "I'm fine. Really I just tripped." She looked around like a cornered animal. She hated sickbay. "Is Emerick here?"

"Of course." Ryan nodded for the nurses to leave. "I'll be right outside if you need me." He then called for the EMH and stepped outside. He could get a full report from Emerick later.

And now the continuation...

Eyelaya was glad that Doctor Rose hadn't fought her on calling Emerick She waited for him to materialize.

Emerick, the USS Fontana's Emergency Medical Hologram had been activated. No sooner had he appeared did he immediately look at the woman he recognized instantly. "Please don't bother stating the nature of your medical emergency" he said and immediately grabbed a medical tricorder and proceeded back over towards her. "So, what did you do this time?" he asked as he began running the probe along her anatomy.

Eyelaya visibly relaxed as Emerick shimmered into existence. "I had a nightmare, I fell." It was simplified drastically. She did indeed have a nightmare but she woke with a panic attack and tripped and fell through a table. She hadn't thrown up yet...and that worried her. Either she was going to or she'd go into another panic attack and she didn't want that. She hadn't had one in almost a year.

"I see" replied Emerick in a more professional tone as he monitored the tricorder. He could see some readings synaptic and otherwise which were mildly alarming. "Your adrenal glands are producing an elevated amount which could be from the nightmare and from the tripping, but I feel as though the tripping was a result of the nightmare, but it's what caused the nightmare that I am finding most interesting" he said very methodically. "Do you normally have nightmares, Chief? Is shortness of breath and sweating par for the course?" added Emerick.

She shrugged. "I haven't had one in a long time. " She looked at Emerick. "I was kind of rude to doctor Rose. He tried to help but I feel better if you help."

Emerick looked out at Doctor Rose who was conversing with the nurse on duty. "He's a really good doctor, Eyeleya and the Chief Medical Officer. You are going to have to understand that I may not always be able to treat your every bruise, scrape, lung puncture, or organ replacement" commented Emerick with increasing severity of his list. He smiled. "Hopefully never anything as severe as the later, but I'm a hologram...photonic in every way with a programmed 'brain' for lack of a better term. There will be times where my program cannot run due to nebula interference and things beyond my comprehension. There's nobody better to have treating you than Doctor Rose."

She looked out at him. "It's hard getting used to that. I don't trust organics much," she said as if she herself wasn't an organic. "I suppose if we're in a nebula and I can't jump start the program..." She smiled at Emerick with a little hiccup. "But you're here for now." She held up her arm trustingly knowing that there was still some glass inside it.

Emerick nodded and did so with full understanding that she had some trust issues. It was not his concern nor his area of expertise. Though counselling was in his programming, it was one aspect of his programming that he did not want to explore. "You have trust issues" he blurted out as he was retrieving a medical tool that would help with removing the pieces of glass. "I do not trust 'organics' either, but I do trust that man" Emerick said jerking his head towards where Doctor Ryan Rose was standing. "Now, this little device here is a gem" he said with a small smile. "Acts like a tiny tractor beam of sorts, pulls out what it's programmed to. In this case glass. So, we're going to get those shards out and then use this to make sure we don't leave even the smallest bit of it in there" he explained to her.

She smiled, "If you trust him, I will give him a chance." She studied the doctor. "How's your day?" Despite the pain she was in and the uncertainty of this all she wanted to focus on her friend. Besides it let her take her mind off of her stomach, which was starting to show signs of bringing up her dinner.

The hologram shrugged "What are days when you are a hologram. I'm activated as needed, Chief. That means as needed" he teasingly replied. "So, aside from a few minutes here and there, I spend most of my days inactive" he explained. "Now, if you would be so kind as to trust Doctor Rose, could he come in and assist me for a bit? I only have two hands and this is a bit difficult even for such a fabulous hologram as myself."

She gave a nod. "Sure."

"Doctor, she's ready for organ harvesting" Emerick said aloud, calling out over his shoulder. He quickly returned his attention to his patient. "Oh lighten up, it was a joke. You're perfectly fine I assure you. Simply just need to remove these pieces of glass is all" he added. "You'll have to forgive me. Doctor Rose and I are thinking about trying to resurrect an old past time on the Fontana, a comedy night. I'm trying to practice."

She chuckled. "I see."

"I think you still need practice." Ryan chuckled. He sterilized his hands again. He replicated a very thin rod with a very sharp tip. "Ok, this is a simple crystal rod coated with something to attract the glass. I don't actually have to touch your skin, and the topical analgesic should still be working, but if you feel any pain, just let me know. I'm going to work on the back of your right side, and Emerick can work on the left." Ryan explained.

She gave a nervous nod. "Alright...." She tried to keep her mind occupied. "So tell me about your comedy night."

Emerick began to work though he was happy to keep the Chief distracted. "Well, Doctor Rose is new here like practically everyone else except for myself. I was with the Fontana since the begining of its service albeit my programming has been altered and I haven't always looked like this" he said making small talk, something he never really thought himself doing especially during a medical procedure. "The USS Fontana used to host a comedy night where some of the crew would perform stand up, though one ensign we had used to perform cabaret albeit it was humorous lyrically."

She was distracted as he talked. She looked up at Emerick. "Well that sounds fun. When does it start again?"

"It does not" replied Emerick, looking over at Doctor Rose. "At least not yet. We need to submit the proposal to do so and technically such a proposal would go through Lieutenant Commander Soral, the Captain's First Officer before it reached her. I am not sure how receptive Soral will be towards such a proposal" explained the emergency medical hologram.

"Well he is Vulcan but maybe I can help. I convinced him and commander Victrix to take me a long." She looked at the two. "I could go with you..."

Ryan smiled. "Well I'm sure if we both arrived, and you had a cup of coffee with you, negotiations would go smoothly." He was sure Soral wouldn't hold a grudge about the coffee. He'd had a pretty good laugh, albeit only to himself when he'd gotten the notation in the man's medical file.

Eyelaya bit her lip. "I think coffee might be a bad idea. The last time i had it he ended up wearing it....I did try to help by pouring cold water on where the hot coffee was," she said helpfully.

Ryan smiled. Clearly, Eyelaya didn't realize that he knew about the spilled coffee and was teasing. He wouldn't embarrass her by bringing it up though. "Seriously though, it might be helpful to have input from an enlisted member rather than just an officer. I'll make an appointment with him, if you're still willing to go with me?" He asked. He pulled the last piece of glass from the side of Eyelaya's back that he was working on, then disposed of his make shift tool, and began sterilizing his hands.

She gave a nod. "Absolutely! Emerick should come too."

Ryan looked to the EMH. "What do you say?"

"I'm a Doctor, not a miracle worker" replied Emerick. He shook his head and sighed. "My ability to attend is limited. It would need to be somewhere in which I can use holo emitters to appear, otherwise I'll be working my way through the ship's comm system and appearing on screen."

Eyelaya got a mischievous look in her eyes. "No time like the present! She reached over and tapped Rose's communicator. "This is Eyelaya to Commander Soral."

There was a pause for a moment. "Chief?" The Vulcan's crisp voice came over the com.

"Doctor's Emerick and Rose and I have something important to speak to you about. It has something to do with the mental health of the crew and is very important. Come down to sickbay. Eyelaya out." She looked at her two new friends. "There!"

Ryan stood there flabbergasted.

Well, Doctor Rose looked like a deer in headlights as the expression went. Guess it is up to me to save the day thought the emergency medical hologram. "Commander Soral, pay not attention to the dear Chief" commented Emerick. "This is your Emergency Medical Hologram reporting from Sickbay. Unfortunately, Chief Eyelaya took a bit of a tumble through a glass table in her quarters and is currently in Sickbay. Rest assured she is in good care with Doctor Rose and I, but our patient here is delirious and has a bit of a reach. She got a hold of the Doctor's comm badge. We apologize for the mild interruption...it will not happen again" said Emerick.

Emerick looked at Eyelaya, raising a brow. He was not beyond activating the restraints on the bio bed.

There was a momentary pause, "I am enroute to sickbay. Soral out."
