ON:
N'vek walked the corridors with Vali. He admired this ship, it was so much cleaner then the one he and his father had been on. He looked up at the woman. "Can we see Commander Soral?"
“I don’t see why not” T’Lanna smiled warmly and tapped her comm badge. =^= Vali to Soral, Are you available? N’vek would like to see you. =^=
Soral who had been up to his pointy ears in in paperwork looked up from the screen and sighed. The boy was becoming too attached to him. It would be difficult to say goodbye. He already saw Soral as a substitute father. He tapped his badge and told the counselor to come to his office with the boy and then he proceeded to put away any work that was of a sensitive nature.
It didn’t take long for T’Lanna and N’vek to arrive at Soral’s office, pressing the chime they waited for an invite to enter. She wanted N’vek to tell Soral about his mother, she just wasn’t sure how he’d take the news.
As the door chimed Soral stood. When T'Lanna had called his mind had gone back to his conversation with the Major. He sighed. "Enter."
Walking inside T’Lanna offered a warm smile. “N’vek asked if he could visit, I didn’t think you’d mind.” She gave N’vek a smile. “Actually N’vek was telling us about his mother.”
Soral raised an eyebrow. "Mother?"
"Yes!" The boy said enthusiastically. "She may be alive."
Soral's eyes widened. "How are you certain?"
"She was on assignment, Tal'shiar She was on a ship."
T’Lanna took a seat and gazed at N’vek. “Tell Soral the rest ... her name.” She gazed at Soral knowing this was going to hit like the proverbial ton of bricks.
Soral sat down at his desk. "Indeed. If she was on a ship we may be able to trace her." Suddenly he had hope that this child was not alone. He gazed up at Vali. Something told him it was not that simple.
“I have a feeling you will find her name familiar Commander” T’Lanna looked at N’vek. “Go ahead N’vek, Tell Soral What you told Mac, Alex and I in the lounge.”
The boy hesitated but decided to take a shot at it. "My mother was on a Federation starship. There was a grandson of a Romulan senator, a powerful man. She was supposed to bring him back to Romulus, to his grandfather and the ship was called the USS Essential and her name is Anandrine code name is Evesta."
Soral felt as if the whole of time had stopped. He took in air but it didn't seem to reach his lungs. He just stared at the child. Then it hit him. The eyes he found familiar on the child, they were Evesta's. "E...Evesta?"
"Yes..." The boy then noticed a picture of a full crew, one that Soral had taken while he was on the Essential. "That's her!" He pointed excitedly.
Soral just stared at the image. The whole crew was pictured there and standing next to him was Evesta.
T’Lanna looked at N’vek “Good boy N’vek” she turned her gaze to Soral who was looking like he’d seen a ghost. “Do you think we can help him Commander?” She knew N’vek would have to be told he had siblings but he first had to know his mother was dead. It was a cruel universe at times.
Soral could feel his heart hammering in his chest. This was the son of Evesta. He was brother to Severine and Soval... "N'vek, Go to your quarters and wait there. I shall join you shorty."
The boy looked sad and defeated but left. Soral sat down hard. "He has her eyes," he said once the boy was gone.
“He needs to know Soral. To know that he has family out there.” She sighed. “N’vek thinks he’s alone in this universe, he’s clinging to the fact that his mother may still be alive. As cruel as it sounds he has to be told she’s dead, but that he has a half brother and sister.”
He rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Another child. Alexandra will... find this difficult." He sighed. "Honour demands that he be my son now and be absorbed into my family." He stood and waked over to the small window. "I was an assignment. She had a husband, a son, yet she bore my children."
“She must have loved you very much Soral.” T’Lanna offered a smile. “I know this isn’t easy for you and you already have children but N’vek will benefit from this, if he accepts it.” She sighed. “He May find all this hard to take. He’s lost so much already, if you do plan to take him in as your own I’d suggest letting him remain onboard at least in the short term. Just until he’s settled and he knows he’s not going to lose another family.”
He sighed. "Will you come with me to talk to him?"
“Of course I will” T’Lanna nodded. “I’m going to be there for both of you, every step of the way.”
He gave a nod. "I suspected the boy's identity from last night."
“Because of his likeness to his mother” T’Lanna nodded. “This isn’t going to be easy. You’re the man his mother betrayed his Father with, he may be angry at you for a long time. It depends on how he accepts the news.”
"We shall see."
