After the Storm

Posted on Monday, 12 April 2021 - 10:24pm by Commander Soral & Lieutenant Ryan Rose MD & Lieutenant T'Lanna Vali & Lieutenant Raith Kolani & Lieutenant JG Kay’la & Petty Officer 1st Class Siana Ilian & Emerick

Mission: Operation: Peace or P'Jem
Location: Sickbay | USS Standing Bear
Timeline: 2394

ON:

With Sickbay having had a busy time with those affected by T’Lanna’s initial outburst Kay’la had prepared for T’Lanna’s arrival in Sickbay, a neural inhibitor in hand she stood working its set up on the computer. Whatever had happened to set off the Psychologist her abilities couldn’t be left active to cause more mayhem.

Ryan walked towards Kay'la with a wane smile. The CMO had clearly not slept, and the incident with T'Lanna meant it was going to be a few more hours before he got the chance to try again. He spotted the neural inhibitor in Kay'la's hand and nodded. "The less critically affected have been moved to the mess hall. Once we get T'Lanna settled, I'm going to head down there and check on things."

Emerick had activated and placed a hand on Ryan's shoulder. "I can assist anywhere you need me to, holoprojectors permitting of course," the emergency medical hologram said. He removed his hand from the man's shoulder and proceeded to get some equipment. "We may want to look into something that monitor's her remaining Borg implants, giving us and the crew a bit of an early alarm in the event something starts to trigger increased activity in her nanites."

Ryan flinched at the touch but smiled at Emerick. "That's a good idea. If you can speak with Lieutenant Zilth and see if he has any ideas I'd appreciate it."

Lying on the bio-bed T’Lanna was slowly starting to stir, her emotions fighting back through the effect of Soral’s nerve pinch.

Kay’la was quick with the inhibitor, placing it on T’Lanna’s neck she tapped the tricorder she was holding to activate it at the pre-set levels for a telepath of T’Lanna’s ability. “Inhibitor set and working Doctor” She looked at Ryan.

Ryan double-checked the scans, then nodded at Kay'la. "Let's keep her as comfortable as possible, and hopefully we find a solution quickly."

Soral and Eyelaya filtered in. He wasn't surprised to find that his wife had run away from Sickbay. He himself had that habit.

Eyelaya stood off to the side avoiding Emerick. Soral walked over to T'Lanna. He was happy to see the inhibitor was on and working. His head was killing him.

Ryan addressed the XO and explained the inhibitor that T'Lanna was currently wearing.

He gave a nod. "Doctor please monitor her. Keep the Captain and myself apprised of how things are going." He looked around. "Do you have enough help with those affected? I've diverted anyone with medic training to help."

"We can use all the help we can get," Ryan answered honestly.

"I can help," a female voice piped up from behind them. Sliding down from a bio-bed, Petty Officer Ilian approached the group, "I'm a doctor. Well, was. Three times in fact. I'm sure the basics are pretty much still the same..."

"Please help out where you can." He looked around. "I assume my wife slipped her sickbay bio-bed?"

Ryan checked, and indeed Alex had slipped out. Ryan sighed. "Sorry sir, she seems to have ninja'd passed us." He gave Soral an appraising glance. He could never read the Vulcan very well, but the man seemed to be in some kind of discomfort. "Are you alright sir?"

"For the moment," He said cryptically. He looked around. "I leave it to you doctor." He turned and left in search of Alex.

Siana smiled as she looked towards Doctor Rose. "Where do you want me?"

"I'll have you join me in the mess hall triage," Ryan replied to Siana.

Kay’la looked towards Ryan. “I’ll keep a close eye on T’Lanna.”

Having heard about what happened with T'Lanna in Engineering, Raith was concerned straight away regarding the effects that she'd had on other members of the crew during her outburst and also as to why she was having such an episode with her natural abilities.

He raced to sickbay as soon as the computer confirmed her location and as soon as he arrived, Raith saw her laying on a bio-bed, looking almost asleep and an almost direct opposite to what she had been doing. Looking around the room, Raith was desperate for answers.

"Is she ok? What's happening to her?? What's going on??" Raith kept asking as he could feel frustration. Normally he would have picked up on her empathic and telepathic actions through their bond, but for some strange reason, that hadn't taken place and he was worried.

"Lieutenant," Ryan spoke calmly, but there was tension across his shoulders. "She's stable. For now, we've used a neural inhibitor."

"Ok..." Raith said as he understood the use of neural inhibitors. "Is she going to be ok? I heard about what happened in Engineering and what her...abilities were doing to... how they were affecting others... I never knew that she could do that until now."

Raith paused. "I... also never felt any of this in our own personal connection... I'm worried about her," he admitted.

"She'll be fine." Ryan assured the concerned man. "We'll have to do some research to find out what exactly happened. "Let us get her fully settled, and you can spend a little time with her, but it's going to have to be brief. We're just too crowded at the moment."

Raith understood the situation and his head became a little clearer as he looked around and understood how busy sickbay was after this incident. "I understand doctor, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to," Raith tried to say before looking at T'Lanna. "

"Do what you can for her, please?" he asked quietly.

Opening her eyes, if only briefly T’Lanna looked at Raith. Her eyes met his before she drifted back to sleep again.

"Of course." Ryan replied. "I'll be in contact soon, and should have more information."

“She’s in the best of hands,” Ilian added as she flashed Raith a reassuring smile. “Doctor, I’ll meet you in the mess hall. Sirs.”
