T’Lanna lay in Sickbay, her mind drifting back to shoreleave and the time she and Raith had some time together.

~ Previously ~

With her recent incarceration aboard the Andorian ship T’Lanna had, had plenty of time to sit and dwell on how much she had missed Raith and Jayce. With the damage the ship had taken, she’d been lucky that Jayce had been looked after whilst Raith was doing his duty. Whilst on the station she planned to meet with Jayce’s grandparents to allow them some time with their grandson, at the same time it would give her some time alone with Raith.

“Should I really be feeling so nervous?” She looked at Raith. “Jason’s parents are lovely people, they’re only here for 48 hours to see Jayce. Why do I feel so worried about allowing them time with their grandson?”

Raith could understand her nervousness about allowing Jayce to see his grandparents, it would be the first time that the child would be away from both he and T'Lanna and she was showing the signs of a caring mother who was going through this for the first time.

"It'll be ok, I promise," Raith said to her, trying to be as caring as possible. "It's the first time this has happened and I'm sure as his grandparents, they will be just as worried too. But also happy to see him as well."

Recalling how his own grandparents felt and reacted when they saw their grandchildren, Raith was pretty certain in how they would be and was trying to ease her worrying. "Besides, it will also be the first time that we'll be alone and that will give us some time as well."

T’Lanna nodded. “I know, I’ve been looking forward to it.” She smiled. “I just wish I didn’t have massive butterflies in my stomach at having to hand over Jayce. I know it’s only for a few hours and he’ll be back tonight, but ...” she sighed. “I’ll try and stop worrying.”

Raith felt a little better as he heard T'Lanna explain why she felt nervous and that she would soon be used to it. These things usually took time and that's all that was needed here as well.

Arriving at the station, T’Lanna and Raith were both met with excitement and hugs as Jason’s parents greeted them. The couple were both in their early 60’s and having lost their son so young in his life had come as quite a blow. Their grandson had given them something else to live for. Handing over her son T’Lanna had watched them head off for their day on the station with a teary-eyed look.

Raith was glad that he'd met Jason’s parents finally. It had been quite some time that he'd spent with T'Lanna and he was aware of the decision he'd taken to agree to bring up Jayce as his own son. What also made him feel at ease was that Jason’s parents were also happy with this decision as well.

Once they met up, they spoke with him with no malice and both of them congratulated Raith on being with T'Lanna and also about being there in Jayce's life. As they walked away, those kind words remained with him and he felt a small tear as he watched his son go off with his grandparents to spend some time with them.

Looking at T'Lanna, he could see her wipe a tear away. "He'll be fine, they are a wonderful couple and I'm sure they will look after him well. They seem very happy to be spending some time with him finally," he said, trying to reassure her once again.

“I know” T’Lanna nodded. “I’m sorry, after everything I went through it’s hard to let him go even if it is just for a few hours.”

"Come on, let's go spend some us time, together," Raith offered. "I'm sure we can find a way to make sure we are both occupied before Jayce comes back from his day trip." He took T'Lanna by the waist with his arm and looked around. "What would you like to do? do you have anything in mind?" he asked.

T’Lanna shook he head. “Not really, just to spend some time with you” She offered an apologetic smile. “Not that I’m very good company at the moment! How’s about we find somewhere to have ice-cream?”

"You know, I like that idea a lot," Raith agreed as he took her hand and they started walking off to find a recognised ice cream parlour on the promenade. "And as this is my treat, you can have as many flavours as you want and as much ice cream as you want...its not often we get to do this together so lets make a date of it," he said.

"in fact, let's call it an ice cream date, I like the sound of these types of dates," Raith added before locating an ice cream parlour a few minutes later. He walked in with T’Lanna and soon they were seated at a table by themselves.

"So, what can I get you both," asked the waiter who had greeted them at the door and walked over to the table. As Raith looked at the menu, he looked at T'Lanna. "Go ahead, anything you want."

T’Lanna offered a warmer smile. “A Strawberry And Vanilla sundae with Strawberry sauce, a wafer and sprinkles please.” She grinned as she looked at Raith, this was making her feel just like a kid again!

~ Now ~

T’Lanna smiled to herself, the day had been a lot of fun, and Raith had managed to quell her fears when it came to being away from Jayce for the day. They’d had some well earned romantic, and downright passionate, time to themselves too.

Right now she wished she was out of Sickbay and back at home with her family where she belonged, but that would come once Ryan decided she was fit to be released. She could only hope that would come sooner rather than later.
