Mission: Operation: Lazarus
Location: Sickbay | USS Standing Bear
Timeline: Current

ON:

Hayashi, feeling on top of the world, entered sickbay. They were looking forward to seeing Oriana but she was not in her bed. A bit of Panic had them seeking out the nurse.

Kay’la smiled warmly as she saw Hayashi coming. “I know what you’re going to ask!” She grinned. “Oriana has gone for tests, she’ll be back in a little while.”

Hayashi let out a visible sigh of relief. "But...she was fine this morning right?"

Kay’la nodded. “It’s just for safety’s sake Hamura, we need to be sure that Oriana is recovering fully.”

Hamura gave a nod. "Can I wait here?"

Kay’la nodded. “Of course you can Hamura, you’re always welcome here. Make yourself at home.”

Hamura gave a nod. He watched the nurse walk away and then looked up as the doors parted. In walked Soral. He stopped the Nurse. "Nurse! Go find Rose and tell him he's going on an away mission. Twenty minutes shuttle bay."

Kay’la turned to look at the Vulcan First Officer. “Right away Commander!” With that she headed to find Ryan.

Soral turned to Hamura. He resisted the urge to leave. "Engineer."

Hamura leaned on the bio bed arms crossed across their chest. "Senpai."

"Did we not speak about that title?"

Hamura raised an eyebrow resisted the urge to shiver. The connection with Soral was always strong it was like talking to themselves but today...something felt odd. "Nope."

Soral sighed. Closed his eyes as if drawing on something. "Correct. We did not. On this ship I am the XO you will call me commander while on duty."

Hamura sighed. "What crawled up your ass and died?" Hamura looked around just as the nurse re-entered.

Kay’la looked towards Soral. “Doctor Rose will be with the away team as soon as he can Commander”

T’Lanna was watching the interaction curiously from her biobed, something was definitely off with Soral but her senses were foggy thanks to her recent exposure to the Trel D.

Soral turned. "As soon as he can is not what I said. Twenty...now 17.5 minutes. Ensure that he is there."

Kay’la looked at Soral in surprise. “He’s currently with a patient Commander, tests cannot be rushed.”

Hamura stepped up. "Alright! Enough. Please excuse him, he suffers from VAS, Vulcan Asshole Syndrome."

T’Lanna let out a giggle before she stifled it, Hamura certainly had a nerve when it came to Soral.

Soral turned his eyes to Vali. "Your find something funny Counselor?"

Hamura rolled their eyes. "Okay enough. Go on your away mission."

Soral studied the Engineer. "You and I shall have words upon my return, Engineer."

"Yeah okay go eat a Klingon and play nice with the Bynars."

Soral sighed turned and stormed out. Hamura saw the rage there which was off...Soral was never like this. Hamura turned to Vali and the nurse. "Sorry Ladies...he's not himself."

T’Lanna nodded. “That much is obvious Hamura. If my senses were working like they’re supposed to, then I’d have been able to give you some insight. From personal observation there’s definitely something very wrong, I just don’t know what.”

"Could be stress...he's had a lot of it."

“It’s possible” Kay’la nodded. “I suggest we keep an eye on the Commander for now, if there’s a problem...” she looked at T’Lanna.

T’Lanna nodded. “I and Ryan have the authority to remove Soral from his duties on medical grounds. We both have to be in agreement, and then we have to convince Captain Stillwater. Which given I’m not even back at work yet...” she sighed.

Hamura sighed, "Naww every Vulcan is born with VAS." They winked at the women. "This one is just VASer then usual. He'll be fine after a nice break."

“What if he’s not?” T’Lanna looked at Hamura.

"He will be." Hamura walked over to the counselor. "How are you feeling Lieutenant?"

“Better than I was” T’Lanna offered a warm smile. “Ryan tells me there’s no sign of rejection from my new organs, so it’s a case of so far so good. Thank you for asking.”

"You just need some rest. Have you been able to see your son?"

T’Lanna nodded. “Raith brings Jayce to see me as often as he can” she smiled as she thought of her son, and the man she loved. “I’m looking forward to getting home in my own bed.”

"Yeah sickbay can be a bit...uncomfortable." Hamura pulled up a chair. "I'm sorry you got hurt."

T’Lanna relaxed back on the biobed resting her head on the raised head end. “You don’t need to apologise Hamura. I volunteered remember?”

"Yeah but I should have anticipated every alternative. My stupid brain was distracted."

T’Lanna looked at Hamura. “Hamura...please don’t!” She offered an understanding smile. “Let’s not place blame where there isn’t any.”

"Yeah but I always plan for every situation...this was not like me." Hamura sighed. "Again I'm sorry you got hurt."

T’Lanna shook her head but knew Hamura needed to hear it. “Apology accepted.” She smiled warmly.

Hamura gave a nod. Just then Oriana came back in. "Ori!" Hamura jumped up and hurried over. Hovering as the nurse helped Oriana to the biobed

“She needs to get some rest.” Kay’la smiled warmly. “Hopefully if the tests come back clear Oriana will be out of here soon.”

"I..."

Oriana smiled sleepily. "I'm okay Haya." Hayashi stood back as the nurse finished settling her in. By the time she was done Oriana was asleep. Hayashi sighed and went back to T'Lanna. "Damned Vulcan and his matchmaking."

T’Lanna grinned. “You’re glad of it really. The two of you are meant to be.”

"Yeah and Soral will never let me forget it." Hamura snorted. "He did it to Mac and Haru...not sure if the two figured it out."

“Ohh I have no doubt they did” T’Lanna offered a tired smile.

"Listen I should let you rest but I actually wanted to see you I have something for you."

“For me?” T’Lanna looked at Hamura in surprise.

Hamura gave a nod. "Yup." Reaching in their bag they pulled out a small box. "Betazoid Kavafa tea. It will help with neurological healing."

T’Lanna offered the warmest smile yet. “Thank you Hamura! This means...” She sat up and leant forward offering a brief hug before letting go. “I’ll use it, I promise.”

Hamura gave a nod. "Well you rest up. I have to go find our VAS sufferer one more time before he shuttles out."

“Good luck!” T’Lanna grinned. “Thanks again for the tea.”
