ON:

Adrianna knew that ryn would have to file a report in a week or two to let the captain and XO know of her pregnancy. Adrianna felt it right to tell them herself. She decided to start with Soral as the captain was difficult to get a meeting with.

Stepping into the XO's office, Adrianna tapped on the door frame, "do you have a moment?"

Soral looked up from a report he was just finishing. "Indeed." He stood. "Please have a seat." He motioned to the chair across his waiting for her to sit. "Can I get you something from the replicator?"

Adrianna had the door shut behind her before taking a seat, "no, thank you. I won't keep you long."

"You may take all the time you need. I always tell the crew my door is open."

"I know - - it's a good policy," she replied with a smile before turning a little more serious, "I want to talk to you about a report Doctor Rose is about to send to you."

"Oh?" He said finally sitting down.

"The report is about myself," Adrianna continued, "I'm pregnant."

He raised both eyebrows. "Indeed. This is...good news." He pulled up a file. "In more ways then one."

Adrianna chuckled, "yes, most definitely good news. Surprising news, but good news."

"Indeed. Hamura and I just one the pool with that news."

"You had a pool on me?" Adrianna asked curiously.

"It was on the ship gossip boards post wedding...how long it would take for you to have a child." He smiled a little. "The gossip boards are...a fascinating place to visit."

"Good gawd, you read that shit?" Adrianna shook her head in disbelief, "either way, this remains quiet. We have a few people to talk to first. So collect your pool later, but technically, you didn't win. I apparently got pregnant on the first week I was back from Ekos. That means that I was pregnant prior to the wedding."

"Which is what I guessed. That you would enter the wedding pregnant...everyone else thought it would be after."

Adrianna chuckled, "I didn't put you down as a gossip columnist or someone who places bets." She shhok her head before looking back to Soral, "so, yes, pregnant and you'll be getting a report from Rose. I don't know what that means for me in terms of job since I'm enlisted not Fleet, but yes, something to discuss."

"I am fine with the child staying here and you continuing your duties but that will be for the new CO to approve."

Adrianna nodded, "in that case, put in a good word for me?"

"Indeed. I shall do that. After all the counselor's child is here. I do not see why one exception is made and another not."

"Rules would change for her too, I would have thought," Adrianna commented, "are we sure we cannot convince our current captain to either remain or have us all stationed on Prairie?"

"I have attempted it...did not work." He sighed. "I am sure they will pick an adequate replacement."

"Worth a try," Adrianna sighed, "I'm sure it'll be OK, if not, I'll just have to take Leopold and find another ship." She shrugged.

"I doubt it will come to that."

"I appreciate the enthusiasm and the optimism, but we have to be open to potential--" Adrianna toyed with a word a moment, unsure if it was even the right term, "hiccle-pups?"

"Close enough." He said. "Well then, I suppose you wish to tell the Captain personally?"

"Our current captain, yes," Adrianna nodded, "though trying to catch him at the right time, especially with a pending retirement, is hard. I'm about to go see him. Or, try to. Preferably before that report gets sent."

"I will ensure that he sees you. XO's have pull about time I used mine."

"Appreciate it," she smiled, "drop me a line and I'll be there. Until then, I won't waste any more of your time. I'm sure you're busy getting this ship's crew ready for a new captain."

Soral, the Vulcan, rolled his eyes. "One can never be ready enough. But it was...nice speaking with you."

Adrianna frowned a little, "you alright? You seem... Almost human in your speaking mannerisms. Tends to mean there's something wrong with a Vulcan."

"I...am well." He said.

"You... Are not," she replied using his speech pattern, "but, I won't push."

He studied her. "If that is all then."

Adrianna nodded, "unless you plan on a usual philosophical conversation about something, I am finished with why I came to see you, yes."
