Talking it out

Mission:
Operation: Mirror of Madness
Location: XO’s office
With the meeting adjourned T’Lanna followed Alex towards the XO’s office, as they entered what was Soral’s domain T’Lanna stood looking at Alex. “Lieutenant...Alex, I’m sorry! I spoke out of turn in there, and I sounded like I was accusing you of something. That’s not how I intended it to sound!”
Rounding the desk, Kingsley shook her head dismissively as she sat down. “You are close to Soral, I know you are worried,” she replied, getting up and ordering a strong black coffee from the replicator. Not her usual refreshment but much needed. “You don’t have to apologise. Do you want something to drink?”
T’Lanna shook her head. “No, thank you. To be honest I’m not feeling my usual objective self, but given everything that’s happened to all of us lately I’m not surprised!”
You have no idea… Alex thought inwardly as she took a sip of coffee and sank into the chair she had just vacated. “Fair point,” she said finally. “Give it time, it will work out.”
T’Lanna nodded. “I will, besides if things get too out of sorts Ryan will have me back in Sickbay in a flash! So, I’ll follow Hamura’s instincts on this one, there’s something strange going on and we need to find out what that something is.”
“On this ship something strange is always going on,” Alex quipped as she nursed the cup in both hands. “Just be careful, stay in touch with the ship, the usual.”
T’Lanna nodded. “I will, besides we’ll have Mac with us! He’s not going to let anything happen to anyone.”
Alex smiled ruefully at that before she set down her cup, lost in thought before reaching under the neckline of her uniform to slip off the necklace which held her wedding ring like a pendant. “I’m not saying I believe Hamura but just in case, I want you to take this give it to Soral. If he is hurt then tell him the only way I’m taking it back is if he gives it to me himself.”
T’Lanna took the pendant, putting it round her neck. “I promise you I’ll give it to him. He loves you, no matter what he’ll fight to give it back to you.”
“I’m counting on it,” Alex said wistfully before she straightened up in her chair, “other than Hamura and Mac, do you need anything else for the mission?”
T’Lanna shook her head. “I don’t think so, Ryan will be needed here...” She paused. “Actually I’d like to take Kay’la if that’s okay? We might need someone with medical training along with us, just incase.”
“As long as Dr Rose agrees, I have no problem with it,” Alex nodded.
T’Lanna smiled and nodded. “If it’s a problem we’ll manage.”
“Anything else?”
T’Lanna shook her head. “No, I don’t think so. Besides I need to get going, this search needs to get underway.”
Alex nodded, looking ready to say something before thinking better of it. “Speak with Dr Rose but either way, you’ll be ready to depart whenever your team is ready.”
“I’ll do that” T’Lanna smiled. “Thank you for letting me clear the air Alex, I appreciate it.”
"Anytime," she said with a small smile. "I don't expect you to find anything but if you do, I'll feel better knowing you will be there. Soral will need your support and he trusts you."
T’Lanna nodded. “He’s a good man Alex, you’re lucky to have him. If he is there I’ll bring him home to you, that’s a promise!”
There was nothing like a huge dose of guilt to make you almost choke on your coffee, fortunately she managed not to. “I’m sure you will,” she said quietly. You had to admire the woman’s confidence. “And I’m sure we will be successful on Vulcan - provided nothing else goes wrong.”
T’Lanna smiled. “Fingers crossed for both of us then!” She stood ready to leave. “Would you check in on Jayce for me while I’m away? You know I hate leaving him.”
“I’m sure he’s in good hands,” Alex assured her. “But I’ll make sure he’s okay.”
T’Lanna nodded. “Thank you Alex. I’ll see you when we get back.”
Alex smiled, “thank you too. Safe trip.”
