Mission: Operation: Peace or P'Jem
Location: USS Standing Bear | Captain's Ready Room
Timeline: 2394

ON:

Mac and Haru entered the Captain's ready room; Haru still in his chair, Mac leaning against the wall. They waited for Zilth to join them. It had been Mac who'd called the group together, stating that there may be a potential security situation on board.

Talarn was not far behind. He had been considering converting a shuttlebay into a place for practice. They could always use the holodecks, but that might not teach what Talarn wanted to do. He stepped through the door of the Captain’s Ready Room, his mind a million miles away. He was surprised to see Lieutenants Hernandez and Mackenzie, having forgotten Mac had asked for the meeting. “Hello, Lieutenants... Captain...” He nodded in greeting.

Mac gave a nod. Haru gave a salute from his chair. "Sir."

“What’s going on?” the Cardassian asked, his gaze moving from person to person.

Haru spoke. "Sir, I request both your permissions to convert the middle brig are into something more spartan. We may have a developing situation where we may need it to... um... house Commander Soral."

Captain Stillwater allowed a lowly groan to slip out, one of frustration. He had served with enough Vulcans to read between the lines when they developed symptoms of the 'tarkelian flu' or whatever potentially infectious illness the Chief Medical Officer aboard their starship sought to cook up for their vanitous needs. Barret cleared his throat. "Oh? Seventh inning stretch time for Commander Soral?" the Captain inquired without using the taboo 'PF' word.

Stillwater looked at Talarn and then at Haru. "I would toss him my left sock, but I know that would be woefully ineffective."

Haru sighed. "Early stages. Enough to be noticeable now and hard to predict when it will become... problematic. I'm sure you read the report of Lieutenant Kingsley's injuries on Earth. It severed their bond and they have not been able to re-establish it yet, not safely so until a solution can be found... I'd like to have the brig at the ready."

"Well considering this involves my First Officer being compromised, psychologically speaking, I will forgo consulting him on this... proposal." Stillwater sighed. "Likewise, since he married our Second Officer, I'm going to bypass Kingsley. This is a security matter. So, Lieutenant Zilth?"

Talarn snorted. “There’s no one in the brig. He can go there,” he said simply.

Haru spoke up. "He's alright for now. Lieutenant MacKenzie and I are monitoring him and I will be speaking with Lieutenant Kingsley. Again this is a precaution... but it would not be right if we did not bring this up to you, Sirs. It is a security matter if he... goes a little nuts." He looked at Stillwater. "Sir, have you noted any worrying signs?"

Everything about Soral worries me, thought Stillwater. "I can't say that I have noticed anything in particular. He has made some decisions recently that were less than what Starfleet would want of him, but nothing I could not support. He's been a fine First Officer thus far."

Haru gave a nod. "I shall make the arrangement and at the first sign that his Pon Farr is getting worse… " He hated having to go behind Soral's back. "As someone who goes through this, I can tell you it is not a time Vulcan’s prize."

Talarn nodded. “Well... I don’t want people scuffed up because we have to wrangle him to brig later. So let’s make sure things go well. I don’t have time right now to chase a half-crazed Vulcan.”

"He's still in the early stages. I will keep you both updated." Haru said.

Captain Stillwater nodded. His mind was actively thinking, preparing for the worse. If Soral did go through the full stages of Pon Farr, the starship was at risk. It had a relatively small crew as the starship itself was only nine decks. They had security personnel, but could they truly handle Soral?

Part of Stillwater wanted to take stronger preemptive measures, but doing so would arouse suspicion in Soral. The last thing he needed was Soral knowing how concerned Stillwater was about his Pon Farr. It was a sensitive topic for most Vulcans, not something they openly discussed.

"Early stages are one thing, but when he gets into those later stages, a Vulcanoid can easily be as strong as a Jem Hadar and as aggressive as a Klingon, I am not sure we will truly be prepared for him if his pon farr is particularly rough."

"Lieutenant MacKenzie and I can take him down if need be," Haru assured the men.

Talarn looked at the two of them. “Alright... then you two do it. Why can’t you just give him a holodeck?” He looked over at Barret. “Can we lock someone into the holodeck?” He was sure he could, but did he have permission, was closer to the question.

"Confined to the holodeck would be... interesting," said Stillwater. "It would be a bit if a drain on power, but it may be less of a drain on personnel. I'm sure we could have Dr. Rose to prescribe him holodeck usage. Could you make something spartan out of that, Haru?"

"Perhaps but the holodeck would only be needed if Alex refuses him or if he cannot properly bond with her then he'd have to kind of fight it out..."

Mac touched his shoulder. "Yeah...let's not prompt a fight I went through that during his last...cycle I wound up in sickbay for five weeks with many broken bones." He studied the Captain and Security chief. "I figure with the four of us we can take him if he becomes a problem...maybe add another two fighters..."

"I'm too old for this shit," Stillwater replied. "My days of dealing with rowdy and randy Vulcans are in the yesteryears."

Talarn tried to hide the snort, but he didn’t and straightened up again immediately.

Captain Stillwater cleared his throat. "Holodeck or brig? Whichever does not matter in the slightest to me, gentleman. As I see it the end result is the same," said Stillwater. "You are telling me that if Commander Soral becomes troublesome in his state, then his green-blooded ass is going to horny jail."

Talarn snorted again and blamed it on his nose, rubbing it quickly.

"Laugh it up, spoon head," Stillwater said crossing his arms and winking at his husband. "Makes me count my blessings we cut down on the number of Vulcans aboard."

Haru looked around at the three others in the room. For a moment he was caught in a bubble, it was like four friends talking, rank seemed to fly out the door. He shook his head to get himself back into form. "Alright. We can handle this. I promise I'll make sure everything is smooth."

"See to it that you do," replied Stillwater. "I chose you for this position for a reason."

He gave a nod feeling a little proud that he could help. "Very well, Captain with your permission Lieutenant Mackenzie and I shall leave."

Captain Stillwater nodded. "Dismissed."

They both saluted and Mac walked out followed by Haru pushing his hover chair out of the office.

"Come on, Tal, I need some coffee after all of that Pon Farr talk" said Stillwater shaking his head.
